If you work for a micro-manager (or you've ever been blamed of kind-of being one 🫣) this one is for you!
At the core of micro-management is distrust
And while we can't control other people
we teach people how to treat us
So ask yourself this:
{Do you trust yourself?}
That you understand the assignment?
That you heard any urgency they were trying to convey?
That you share in the vision?
And if you do, and you trust yourself, then the next step is to work to get them to trust you, too.
There are, of course, exceptions to the rule but
Most people that micro-manage have already been taught
Maybe it has been by you
Maybe it was by someone in their past that has nothing to do with you, at all
But if you want to be able to keep your sanity
(Bc who likes to be micromanaged?!)
Then it's your job, now, to teach them that it's safe to trust you!
So, start with asking questions
Make sure you're clear on the goals and expectations
And then get started doing the things!
And maybe doing a little extra (proactive) communication, up front to build that confidence
✨Trust-building starts with accountability✨
The result?
Little by little, that micromanaging should slow down
You get to do your job in peace 🕊️
And you feel better about your value!
That's the real goal here
So try that and let me know how it goes!

I got a (maybe) once-in-a-lifetime invite this week! A request from someone in my Productive Professional Network(TN) to write a forward for their book- a Career Guide! I am so honored and humbled by the request- and of course can't wait to share what they've created with you! brb, have some reading and note-taking to do!
I love being able to say "yes" to supporting my people and their passions.

What have you uncovered recently, by being curious?
Just ask.
You might be surprised at what you find
This two word question will settle this whole internet iced coffee to an interview "debate". It's a question I ask a lot:
I need to hear from the pro take-the-drink people ✍️
✨ Why yes? ✨
I'm all for two-interview processes, but help me understand
What is the reason for a BYO coffee situation?? ☕

It is a compliment?
Is it an attempt at motivation?
Is it feedback?
My neighbor's mom baked a peach cobbler-type dessert and sent her with an entire pan to walk over to me!
(Yes, we are Southern)
Not only was it the sweetest gesture, it came with a simple, yet moving, note.
One that I needed to hear.
"You are great"
Not "great at..."
Not "doing great..."
Just... me. As a human.
I am great.
She doesn't know me very well. She has no idea the things I'm working on, and definitely has no clue how they are going.
What, I imagine she knew, though, was that those 3 little words would put a smile on face.
(Maybe even a bigger one than the homemade, surprise dessert already brought!)
This is exactly what the world needs more of.
More kindness.
You never know how much a few simple words might mean to someone!
