At 47 years old, it’s looking like I’m autistic… and honestly? No one who actually knows me is surprised.

Now unpack this: an autistic mom and an autistic child, both overstimulated, both trying to stay regulated, and we’re doing it while incarcerated. The lights, the noise, the constant instructions, the waiting, the sudden changes, the lack of control over basic needs… it’s not just “stressful.” It’s a sensory and nervous system nightmare.

Jaywalking is a misdemeanor. Most immigration “offenses” people scream about are civil issues, paperwork and process, not some violent crime.

Wilbur Perez in Austin was shot in the back over a civil immigration issue, and people are still being fed propaganda that “being here” equals “deserving abuse.” No. Being undocumented does not mean you deserve to be harmed, tortured, or treated like your life has less value.

I jaywalked today. I do not deserve to be shot for that. Immigrants do not deserve to be shot just for existing here either. End of story.

They don’t tell you this part out loud: a lot of the government forms you’re expected to file in removal proceedings aren’t even offered in Spanish.

And yeah… that’s too bad. Because when the stakes are your freedom, your family, and your future, “figure it out” isn’t a system, it’s a barrier. The system is set up in a way that makes it harder than it needs to be, and it can feel like they go out of their way not to help the people who need clarity the most.

I want to tell you everything about my case. Like… blow it wide open. But I can’t right now because it’s still ongoing, and it’s driving me crazy staying quiet.

What I can say is this: the Amendments are federal law, the supreme law of the United States, and it matters that we stand up to the system when those rights are ignored, even if it costs us right now. I’m pushing through this not just for my daughter and I, but because I want to get to the other side and help other people who end up trapped in the same kind of nightmare.
