There's something special about being welcomed into a room full of strangers and getting to be part of such a meaningful day. So grateful I got to capture a little piece of it. 📸

Some moments only happen once.

A child will never be this little again. Your family will never look exactly like this again. The people you love will never be this age again.

That is what I love about photography. I fell completely in love with photographs not just for how beautiful they can be, but for what they allow us to hold onto.

I’m Desirae, the photographer behind Rae of Light Photography, and I enjoy capturing love and passion in all of its forms.

The way a mother looks at her baby. The way two people reach for each other. The laughter that happens when nobody is trying to pose.

The little moments that feel ordinary now, but someday might mean everything.This became especially personal for me after losing my mom.

We talked for months about having a beautiful family photograph with all of the generations together. Everyone dressed up, somewhere beautiful, everyone looking their best.

We never got that photograph.

I wish I had more candid moments with her. More photographs of my family together. More of the ordinary days that I didn't know would someday become memories I would give anything to have.

That's a big part of why I want to capture these moments for other people.

Rae of Light makes me think of a shooting star. Something beautiful that appears for just a moment and then is gone. A moment you can't recreate, but you can remember.

Whether I'm behind the camera or helping someone get ready with makeup, I love making people feel beautiful, confident, cared for, and completely themselves.

My hope is that when you look back at your photographs years from now, you don't just see what you looked like. You remember how it felt to be there. To be loved. To be together. To be exactly where you were in that season of your life.

Because those moments are worth holding onto. 🤍

We take so many photos of our babies when they’re this little.

But mama was there, too.

And I think you deserve to remember more than just how tiny they were. You deserve to remember the quiet moments of feeding and snuggling, the way they looked at you, and all the little moments that made this season so special.
