💭 Devotional

God’s command begins with an interesting word: Remember.

Remembering in Scripture is more than recalling something in our minds. It often leads to action. When God tells us to remember the Sabbath, He is inviting us to intentionally make room in our lives for what He has declared holy.

Life makes forgetting easy. There is always another task, another responsibility, another problem demanding our attention. Without intention, one week can quickly blend into the next.

Then comes the Sabbath.

Every seventh day, God gives us a reminder: Stop. Remember Me.

We remember that He is Creator. We remember that He provides. We remember that our lives are more than our work and accomplishments. And we remember that this present world with all its busyness, sorrow, and struggle, is not the end of God’s story.

As we learn to remember Him week after week, our hearts are being trained to look toward the kingdom He has promised.

Today, may we remember, not merely a day, but the God who gave it.

🙏 Prayer

Father, in a world filled with distractions, help us remember You. Teach us to protect the sacred time You have given us and to turn our hearts toward You with joy. Keep Your promises before us as we look forward to Your coming kingdom. Amen.

💭 Devotional

What does it mean when Scripture says that God sanctified the seventh day?

To sanctify something means to set it apart for a holy purpose. At Creation, God didn’t simply stop working on the seventh day. He blessed that day and separated it from the other six.

That teaches us something important about holiness. Something becomes holy not because we declare it so, but because God sets it apart for Himself.

Each Sabbath, we are invited to step away from the ordinary rhythm of the week and enter time that God has made special. Our work may still be waiting. Our responsibilities haven’t disappeared. But for this sacred time, our attention is redirected toward our Creator.

And perhaps that is part of our preparation for God’s coming kingdom—learning even now to recognize what God calls holy and joyfully setting it apart because we trust the One who made it so.

The Sabbath reminds us that our time, just like our lives, ultimately belongs to Him.

🙏 Prayer

Father, thank You for setting apart the Sabbath as holy. Teach us to treasure what You treasure and to honor what You have made sacred. Quiet the distractions around us and draw our hearts closer to You. Prepare us to live today—and in Your coming kingdom—with hearts devoted to You. Amen.
