I kinda feel like, if you live anywhere near Chicago, and have even the slightest interest in musical theatre, then you know about the fabulous, creepy, and fantastic remount of “Jekyll and Hyde” with Kokandy Productions - Chicago at Broadway In Chicago …but if for some strange reason you have heard yet….GET TO THE THEATRE NOW!

Getting a second try at makeup designing this thing, while keeping in mind that the it’s a remount, was a treat so few designers get! The looks stayed true to what was successful the first time around, but I made small tweaks to some of the shapes, fixed a few things that I didn’t previously love, and made many aspects bigger to accommodate the larger stage. But I kept most of it, just like this whole production kept as much from the first go around as they could…including this SUPER TALENTED cast that will absolutely blow you away!

STAGE MANAGERS: ya ever have that moment of terror when production asks you for a photo to use for social media, promo, or even in the program…and all you have is that one good picture your mom took 6 years ago on her phone at a family reunion? 😳
Yeah…it’s becoming more and more common to promote shows by introducing the tech team on socials. But, the nice thing is, yours don’t have to follow all “the rules” that actors need to. You can get yourself some headshots that feel like YOU, more relaxed poses, and framing that captures the vibe you bring into the room!

Get em now, before you have to dig through your Facebook albums to find one kinda ok shot from last Xmas to represent you professionally!

Whether you’re a rabid fan of the cult classic “Mommie Dearest”, or if you’re totally new to the lore, you’re gonna find yourself giggling away the evening at “Joan Crawford Goes To Hell” at Hell in a Handbag Productions Hell in a Handbag Productions
This company is my home and my heart…and this show has been waiting to come back for a remount since 1999, before my time with them began! The people asked, and Handbag DELIVERED honey!
With 3 main Joan Crawfords telling a tale that is *someone’s* version of her life, we get to see these 3 rip it up, and rip into anyone who dares to stand in their way! (Though the show ultimately has 5 Joans…I won’t give away how you experience the other 2!)
Creating these versions of Joan, along with aiding the supporting cast in their looks, was such a treat! (Christina, both youth and adult, is such a favorite of mine!) And now, the show has EXTENDED THROUGH OCT 4! GET YE TO THE THEATRE!

We love a bump up!
When you book a full session, a “bump up” is offered, and most folks think that means a totally different look, in a totally different outfit. BUT that’s not the only possibility! We can change your makeup mid-outfit as well, especially if you love the backdrop and outfit, but want a slightly different vibe! We collaborate to decide when we want a change, if we want a change, and what that means for YOU to feel like many versions of your authentic self!

Sunday In The Park With George with Kokandy Productions - Chicago and Derek Van Barham has been nothing short of a dream to design!

And a bit personal…
I grew up in Columbus, OH. As a young actor, I found my artistic home at Davis Discovery Center. I spent countless hours there, doing shows and taking classes. When we had a lunch break, we always took it outside. Davis happened to be next door to The Topiary Park…where there was a full recreation of A Sunday Afternoon On The Isle Of La Grande Jatte, in topiary art. I spent hours wandering around these sculptures, lounging in the shade they made, recreating their poses, and having fun with my friends.

All these years later, to have a small part in creating this BEAUTIFUL show, tucked away in its own lil space at 1543 W Division Chicago IL USA feels surreal. I never knew, all those years ago, that I’d move to Chicago where the painting would be so accessible to me, or that I’d have a hand in giving these characters life in a way I never could have imagined.

Ellen Campbell came to us for that good ole agent package! Some agents want to see every image we took in the session, and some want actors to narrow it down to 40-60 for them to choose from. Collin Quinn Rice is happy to make an “agent album” where you tell them which pics you want to offer your agents. Collin puts them into an album, with a passcode, and creates a link you can send straight to your agents for feedback. Kinda chic that YOU get some input as you pick and choose what to show them, instead of being at the mercy of their choice out of hundreds of images! We think Ellen and her agent picked some EXCELLENT shots together!

Isabel Jayne Mancl didn’t just want headshots, in the traditional sense. Yes, those were on the list, but she really wanted some images that showed off her personality for promotional use, to add to her website as a voice teacher, and of course…that fabulous opera shot. Can we get some commotion for the dress?!

Remember how in my last post I said that thing about a nickel for every time I meet someone, do their headshot makeup, and then next thing I know, they’re cast on a show I was makeup designing? Well…this time it happened twice in one show!
Z Moore is such a lovely human, and it was a treat to get to help them show off their various vibes while giving them an affirming experience…makes my heart all mushy! And, now you can also catch them at Sunday In The Park With George at Kokandy Productions - Chicago as they take their fabulous turn as Franz!!
