Hi, newbies. 🖤
Since there are some fresh faces around here, I figured I should probably introduce myself before you start wondering who the tattooed, caffeine-fueled chaos gremlin behind Sun Ink’d is. 😂

I’m Kaitlyn, but depending on where you know me from, you may hear Bamalynn, Bama, or Kait. I’m 29, a mama to three little humans, engaged to my best friend, and currently planning our dark + rustic November wedding.

A few things you should know about me:
- I’m obsessed with vintage Harley-Davidson. The older, more worn-in and badass, the better.
- Thrift stores are my Disneyland. Give me old tees, weird décor, vintage finds and things nobody else has.
- I’m a HUGE Tim Burton fan and have an entire Tim Burton-inspired tattoo sleeve on my right arm.
- I have three furry children: Bobbi, my dog; Ozzy Pawsborne, my orange cat; and Stevie Licks, my black cat. Yes, the names are intentional. 😂
- I’m the “cool mom” and raising my kids on older music, good values, and Southern sayings stolen directly from my parents and grandparents. My personal favorite will forever be: “God doesn’t like ugly.”
- If you’re trying to kidnap me, your chances increase significantly if you’re holding an energy drink or literally anything from 7Brew.
- I speak fluent curse words. If one slips out during your appointment, I promise you’re in a judgment-free zone. Hell, I probably said it first.

And then there’s my fourth baby… SUN INK’D TANNING. ⚡️
Five years ago, I started Sun Ink’d as a little side hustle. I was spraying friends and family, learning as I went, and honestly had no idea what this little idea would eventually become. Since then, I’ve invested countless hours into education, certifications and learning the actual science behind sunless tanning. I’ve gone from spraying people and praying for the best, to understanding undertones, color theory, DHA, solution formulation, custom blending and how to create a glow specifically for the human standing in front of me. Sun Ink’d has grown into mobile/concierge spray tanning, an in-home studio, custom services, bridal tanning, memberships, retail products and so much more. And I’m still learning because I never want to stop getting better at what I do. But Sun Ink’d also became something much bigger than tanning.

I created my own retail line called DISORDER — home of products like CHAOTIC, MANIC, BAPTISM, AFTERMATH and more — because I wanted products that felt like me: a little dark, a little unhinged, but backed by purpose and ingredients I actually care about.
And DISORDER has a mission that is incredibly important to me: 20% of retail proceeds are donated to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation to support mental health research. 🖤
Mental health means more to me than I could ever fit into one Facebook post. I believe we need to talk about it. We need to stop treating it like something shameful or something people should hide. And if I can use something I created — even something as simple and fun as self-tanner — to help fund research, start conversations and remind somebody that mental health matters, then DISORDER is doing exactly what I created it to do.

And that brings me to probably the MOST important thing you should know about me as your spray tan artist:
I take pride in being the chaotic spray tan artist.

I curse.
I play loud music.
I overshare.
I’ll probably talk to you like we’ve been friends for ten years even if we met ten minutes ago.
But I will also listen to you.

Sun Ink’d is a no-body-shaming, come-as-you-are kind of place. Spray tanning may be considered a luxury service, but feeling comfortable in your own skin shouldn’t be reserved for one specific body type, age, personality or aesthetic.

There are SO many talented spray tan artists out there, so when someone chooses me to be theirs, I never take that lightly. Whether you’ve been here since the beginning, found me last week, or you’re silently stalking my page trying to decide if you’re brave enough to book…

HOLY SH*T… SUN INK’D IS FIVE…

Thank goodness (maybe 😂) for Google Photos reminding me just how far this little chaotic idea has come.

August 11th, 2021.
I was working in a plastic surgeon’s office, talking to a coworker about pageants. I had done the small-town, school-gym, everybody-knows-everybody kind of pageants, definitely not the big leagues, but one thing I absolutely fell in love with was getting spray tans.
During that conversation she said, “We should do that here.” And just like that… the first little spark of Sun Ink’d Tanning was born. 🖤

It didn’t end up working out in that office, and looking back, I think that was exactly how it was supposed to happen. Because DAMN… look what we built on our own. 😭👏🏻

What started as a little side gig, spraying my friends and basically praying to the DHA gods that they woke up looking good, turned into something I never could’ve imagined.

Five years later, I’ve invested in education, earned certifications, studied the science behind sunless tanning, learned how different skin tones and undertones react, perfected custom blends, and STILL continue learning every chance I get. I went from carrying my setup around and figuring it out as I went…to having my own little Sun Ink’d suite right outside my front door.
And somewhere along the way, I fell so damn hard for this industry that spray tanning wasn’t enough. I started learning the science behind the products themselves and turned that obsession into creating my own self-tanning products for my DIY girlies to take a little piece of Sun Ink’d home with them. I’m currently working on the second edition!

And this picture? 😂 I absolutely LOATHE it.
But the girl in it? I admire the hell out of her.

She had no idea what she was doing. She just had an idea, some ambition, probably way too much confidence…and apparently a pair of leather leggings she thought were appropriate spray-tanning attire. 💀 But she freaking DID IT.

Sun Ink’d has helped me pay bills.
It’s helped pay for trips.
It’s bought school supplies.
It’s introduced me to some incredible people who started as clients and became friends.
This business has seen me at my absolute best and dragged along beside me through some of my absolute worst. Somehow, through every version of me over the last five years, Sun Ink’d kept growing with me. So today isn’t just about celebrating five years in business. It’s about celebrating every single person who trusted me with their skin along the way.

🖤 To my DAY ONE INKERS: I hope you know how much your loyalty has meant to me. You trusted me when I was still figuring this s**t out, and I will never forget that.

Before your appointment, you'll be asked to complete the appropriate forms based on your service:
- New Clients: New Client Intake & Consent Form **AND** Consent & Liability Waiver
- Mobile Appointments: Mobile Service Agreement
- Pregnant Clients: Pregnancy Disclosure & Consent Form
- Minors (Anyone Under 18): A parent or legal adult (18+) must complete and sign a Minor/Child Consent Form before services can be performed.

Yes, I'll have paper copies available at your appointment if needed, but completing everything online beforehand helps us spend less time on paperwork and more time getting you bronzed. ☀️
