Today truly feels like the end of an era. 💔

Dolly Parton was so much more than an icon. She showed generations of women what it looked like to be completely and unapologetically yourself.

She was talented, brilliant, funny, generous, and an incredible businesswoman. She came from very little and built an extraordinary life, all while never feeling the need to make herself smaller to make other people more comfortable.

As someone who works in aesthetics, there was always something else I admired about Dolly: she never pretended.

She loved the big hair, the makeup, the lashes, the curves, and the glamour. And she was famously open about having cosmetic procedures. She never acted as though wanting to look your best was something women should be ashamed of.

There was something incredibly empowering about that.

Dolly showed us that you can care about how you look AND be intelligent. You can love beauty AND have substance. You can be feminine, glamorous, successful, generous, and incredibly powerful all at the same time.

She didn’t spend her life trying to fit the standard.

She became the standard. ✨

For so many women, she represented the freedom to become exactly who you wanted to be — and then own every bit of it.

What a devastating loss of a woman who influenced generations in ways that went far beyond music.

The rhinestones shine a little less brightly today. 💔✨

Rest in peace, Queen. There truly will never be another one like you.
