The hardest part of coming home was not always visible.

On Drive On Podcast, I talk with Scott DeLuzio about carrying combat trauma, moral injury, and traumatic brain injury long after Iraq. For years, I suppressed what happened overseas. Accepting help, going through prolonged exposure therapy, and allowing myself to be vulnerable helped me begin finding a healthier way forward.

I also share why Pets Healing Vets matters to me. The program pairs veterans with shelter animals and supports them together, with the goal of saving lives at both ends of the leash.

If you have carried experiences you have not known how to name or talk about, I hope this conversation adds to the awareness and reminds you that invisible wounds deserve attention.

Thank you Work Vessels for Veterans for the acknowledgement. I've been donating to them to raise money at their annual golf outing/silent auction for 7 years straight. This ball sold for $1,350 and all the proceeds went to WVFV, that helps disabled veterans start their business by providing the necessary tools and equipment needed that the veteran can't afford. I owe everything to this organization as they helped provide me with a computer assisted CNC machine. The most important piece of equipment I have to do my woodworking.

I had a fantastic day at the American Warrior initiative yesterday watching veteran Dakota meet his new service dog named Bart! The American warrior initiative donates a free service dog in partnership with Ultimate Canine to a deserving veteran in need that suffers from PTSD or TBI. It was a pleasure to be a part of this fantastic ceremony and mission, saving lives.

Also, we were happy to donate one of our custom solid cedar footballs for their silent auction to raise money to help with their mission!! It was a total success!!😊🏈😊🏈

It was a terrific day at the Indiana University School of Nursing addressing the effects of TBI, PTSD and MST. I’m so grateful to be included in this program, and happy to know that the school of nursing has now made this class a mandatory requirement upon graduation.
