🐾❤️ Why rescue matters to me.

As we get closer to our adoption event and mini market on October 17th, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about why I care so much about rescue.

For me, it has never been just about finding animals a home.

It’s about giving an animal a chance when they may have never had one before. It’s about the scared dog who finally learns that a human can be kind. It’s about the neglected animal who gets to experience a warm bed, a full belly, a soft voice, and a safe place to sleep. It’s about watching these babies slowly realize that life can be different.

And none of that happens because of one person.

I have so much admiration for Chantelle and the incredible amount of work she puts into saving these animals. Rescue is not easy. It takes time, money, patience, emotional strength, and a willingness to keep showing up even when the need feels overwhelming. She continues to say yes to animals who desperately need someone to say yes to them. ❤️

But behind every rescue is also an incredible community of people who make it possible.

The people who donate.
The people who share posts.
The people who transport.
The people who volunteer.
The people who donate food, supplies and medical expenses.
And especially the fosters.

I don’t think everyone realizes just how incredible fostering is.

A foster opens their home and their heart to an animal who may be frightened, confused, sick, or simply learning how to be loved. They provide a safe place for that animal to land while we search for their forever family.

They love them knowing that, someday, they will have to say goodbye.

That takes a very special kind of person. 🥹❤️

And then there are the adopters. The people who look at an animal’s past and decide that it doesn’t define their future.

That is what rescue is about.

Giving them a future.

Every donation matters. Every foster matters. Every adoption matters. Every share matters. Every person who shows up and supports rescue is helping create another happy ending.

So when you come to our adoption event and mini market on October 17th, I hope you know that you’re not just coming to shop.

You’re becoming part of something bigger.

You’re helping support the people who are doing the hard work of saving lives. You’re helping provide for animals who don’t have anyone else. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll meet a furry face that changes your life forever. 🐾❤️

I am so incredibly grateful for every single person who has supported, donated, fostered, volunteered, adopted, shared posts, or simply cheered them on.

These animals deserve a chance. And together, we can help give them one. ❤️🐾

I hope you’ll come see us on October 17th. Bring your friends. Bring your family. Come shop, meet some amazing people, love on some amazing animals, and support the people who refuse to give up on them.

Because every life saved is worth celebrating. 🐾❤️

💜 A little heart-to-heart from me…

I’ve been a little quiet lately, and I feel like I owe my customers and followers an explanation.

Walking away from my downtown shop has been much harder on me than I ever expected. That little store was my baby. It was something I dreamed about, worked incredibly hard for, and poured so much of my heart into. Losing that space wasn’t just losing a storefront, it felt like losing a piece of the life I had worked so hard to build.

I’ll be honest… I’ve struggled a bit with my mental health since having to close those doors. I’m trying to learn how to balance this new chapter of life and find joy in my creative outlets again, but sometimes even getting started feels incredibly hard when this isn’t where I imagined myself being at this point in my life.

I know I haven’t been as good about keeping up with messages, responding quickly, or staying in touch with some of my longtime customers. Please know it isn’t because I don’t care. Quite the opposite. I appreciate every single person who has supported Salty Mama Soapery more than I could ever put into words. ❤️

I’m trying. I’m working on changing my outlook, finding the good in where I am now, and figuring out how to make the best of this new version of my business and my life.

My hope is to slowly get things back in order, get my website going again, start making more regularly, and eventually get back to doing markets. I may not be doing things exactly the way I once did, but I’m not giving up on Salty Mama Soapery. 💜

So if you’ve messaged me and I haven’t gotten back to you yet, or if I’ve been quieter than usual, please be patient with me. I’m finding my footing again.

Thank you for continuing to be here. Thank you for understanding. Thank you for supporting my little business through all of its seasons.

I appreciate you all more than you know. And I’m going to keep trying to find my way back to the joy in this. 🥹💜

Hi friends! 💛

I know it’s been a while since my last update back in December when I shared the news about closing the shop. The past few months have been a time of regrouping and figuring out what Salty Mama Soapery looks like next.

While I don’t have the retail space anymore, I’ve slowly started making small batches of products again from home. My workspace and storage are much smaller now, so production is limited — but it feels really good to be creating again. 🧼✨

If you’ve been missing your favorite soaps and lotions, you’ll have a chance to grab some soon! I’ll be set up at a craft fair on Saturday, March 28th from 9am–3pm at the First Baptist Church in Belfast.

• Lotions
• A few other goodies

Since I’m working in small batches, quantities will be limited — so come early if there’s something you’ve been hoping to restock!

Hey friends 🤍

I wanted to pop on with a little life update. I truly had every intention of doing a Valentine’s release, but with the new job I mentioned before, my extra time has been pretty minimal. Learning my new role has been so rewarding… but also — let’s be real — mama is tired 😅

That said, I want to reassure everyone that nothing is gone forever. We are still very much planning on building the home soap shop, and for the sake of a healthy work/life balance, I’ve decided it’s best not to bring full production back into the house again until that space is finished. I want to keep creating from a place of joy, not burnout, and this feels like the right move for this season.

In the meantime, I’d love to shine a light on something very close to my heart: animal rescue 🐾

I’ve been a little quiet on here lately, and I wanted to share a quick life update.

After moving out of my shop, things felt a bit upside down for a while but I’m happy to say I’ve settled in nicely. I’m now working from home with Athena Health and finding my rhythm again, which has been such a relief.

The soap + lotion side of my heart is still very much alive though 🧼✨
I just dropped off a fresh restock of my super moisturizing lotions as well as other amazing goodies at The Blue Alpaca 📍 101 Main Street, Belfast and with this cold, brutal winter, our skin could definitely use the extra love.
