DO WE REALLY HAVE A MINISTRY OF GENDER OR MINISTRY OF EDUCATION IN LIBERIA UNDER THE BOAKAI REGIME?
The silence is deafening, and the failure is criminal.
Recent reports from Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, Nimba and B**g Counties have exposed an alarming national emergency - a sharp rise in teenage pregnancies among school-going girls.
At Sinje Public School and Zimi-Bamballa Public School alone, dozens of young girls have been impregnated within a very short period, forcing them to drop out of school and destroying their future.
What is even more disturbing is that advocacy groups, community leaders and local reports consistently point to *teachers and school authorities* - the very people entrusted to protect our children - as being frequently implicated in this abuse and statutory r**e of underage learners.
This is not just teenage pregnancy. This is *R**E. This is ABUSE OF POWER.*
Since 2024, Liberia has seen a huge rise in the r**e and domestic abuse of our teenage girls, yet the Ministry of Gender and the Ministry of Education have yet to prosecute a single individual in the court of law. Not one teacher dismissed and jailed. Not one principal held accountable.
Where is the Ministry of Gender? Where is the Ministry of Education? Are these ministries still functioning, or have they become mere buildings with signboards?
The systemic failure, cultural silence, fear of retaliation, and lack of enforcement are allowing predators to remain in our classrooms.
OUR CALL:
We at Under The Palava Hut are calling on our international partners - the US Embassy, EU, UN Women, UNICEF and all human rights organizations - to intervene in this crisis with the same urgency they are intervening in the co***ne saga.
If they can demand a second country to prosecute the drug cartel, they must also demand justice for our daughters whose future is being destroyed in our schools.
Our children cannot wait. Liberia cannot wait.
