I want you to try this if you use AI at all.
I spent 28 years in IT, and I already have a FOUR-PAGE résumé that tells that story.
But here’s the problem…
I’m in a completely different chapter now.
Over the last year, I’ve been building experience in content creation, UGC, affiliate marketing, brand partnerships, AI, social media, travel content, and digital commerce.
I couldn’t just keep adding pages to my old IT résumé. It needed to be a separate résumé with a completely different focus.
So I asked AI to use what it already knew about my journey over the last year and create a résumé for this new chapter.
Within seconds, I had one. And it was GOOD.
It pulled together experience I honestly wouldn’t have thought to put into résumé format and still kept my 28-year IT career as part of my story without letting it take over.
If you’re reinventing yourself, retiring but starting something new, changing careers, building a side business, or entering a second chapter try this.
Upload your old résumé and use this prompt:
“Create a completely new résumé for the next chapter of my career. Do not simply add to or rewrite my existing résumé. Use my previous career to identify transferable skills, accomplishments, leadership experience, and credibility, but summarize that background so it does not overpower my new direction. Focus primarily on what I have done recently, including new skills, projects, certifications, freelance work, content creation, business ventures, volunteer work, or other relevant experience. Use what you already know about my recent journey when available. Make the résumé modern, professional, achievement-focused, easy to scan, and ATS-friendly when appropriate. Do not invent anything. If important information is missing, tell me what I should add.”
