DEEPER TRUTH 🤍
Yesterday we talked about this:
Your body is a gift to steward—not a project to perfect.
But what does it actually mean to steward our bodies biblically?
I don’t think it’s simply another way of saying, “Take better care of yourself.”
Because even stewardship can become another checklist.
Drink the water.
Eat the protein.
Get the steps.
Lift the weights.
Get eight hours of sleep.
Those can all be good practices.
But they aren’t the goal.
Biblical stewardship is learning to live responsively to God through the embodied life He has given you.
And that won’t always look the same.
Sometimes the faithful response is movement.
Sometimes it’s eating.
Sometimes fasting.
Sometimes feasting.
Sometimes work.
Sometimes sleep.
Sometimes kneeling.
Sometimes stopping.
Because movement isn’t always more faithful than rest.
Fasting isn’t always more spiritual than feasting.
Working isn’t always more obedient than stopping.
There isn’t one practice that is always the faithful practice.
Faithfulness is responsiveness.
God leads.
We listen.
We discern.
And then we respond—with the whole embodied person He created us to be.
That’s why I don’t want biblical wellness to become another system for getting better at controlling our bodies.
And I don’t want us to dismiss the body as though our physical lives somehow sit outside our spiritual lives either.
We pray with bodies.
We worship with bodies.
We serve with bodies.
We work with bodies.
We rest with bodies.
We experience limits with bodies.
We respond to God with bodies.
Our bodies aren’t interruptions to our spiritual lives.
They are part of our lived response to God.
And maybe that’s the deeper truth underneath this week’s Myth Buster:
The body becomes a participant in faithfulness rather than a project we are constantly trying to conquer.
Not perfect it.
Not worship it.
Not ignore it.
Steward it.
Listen. Discern. Respond.
That is Body & Soul. 🤍

You don’t have to live near me to do this with us. 👣
And you don’t need a whole group to begin.
Invite a friend.
Ask your spouse or partner.
Bring a family member.
Gather your small group.
Invite a neighbor or coworker.
Or simply come on your own.
Wherever you live and whoever you bring (or don’t bring), there’s room for you on this journey.
🌿 ANCIENT PATH: An Advent Journey is our 4th Annual Advent Walk—and this year, you can participate from wherever you are.
For 40 days, we’ll cover 90 miles as we make our way toward Christmas.
But the miles are only part of the story.
We’ll open Scripture.
Slow down.
Pay attention.
And practice the invitation of Jeremiah 6:16:
STAND. LOOK. ASK. WALK. REST.
Because maybe we don’t need to rush through another December.
Maybe we need to slow down enough to experience the road that leads us to the manger.
40 Days • 90 Miles • One Road Toward Jesus
🌿 ANCIENT PATH begins November 14.
Come with a friend. Come with your people. Come on your own. Just come. 🤍
👇 Comment PATH and I’ll send you the details.
And if someone came to mind while you were reading this, send it to them and ask:
“Want to do Advent differently with me this year?”

WELLNESS WEDNESDAY | MYTH BUSTER #7 💥
What if your body was never meant to be your never-ending improvement project?
Lose this. Tighten that. Fix the hormones. Build more muscle. Reverse aging.
Wellness culture always has ONE MORE thing for us to fix.
But wanting change isn’t the problem.
I want to be strong, nourish my body, address symptoms, move well and feel well.
Those are all part of faithful stewardship.
The question is: What posture am I pursuing change FROM?
Punishment or care?
Fear or wisdom?
Control or stewardship?
Self-rejection or faithful attention?
Same goal. Different heart.
Instead of constantly asking, “What’s wrong with my body?”
What if we got curious?
What is my body communicating?
What might I need to learn?
What is one faithful response?
Same body. Different posture.
And here’s what I don’t want us to miss:
You don’t have to wait for a different body to start living your life.
This body can move, worship, rest, love, serve and respond to what God has called you to do.
Sometimes faithful stewardship looks like movement, nourishment or strength.
Sometimes rest, medical care or simply enjoying the life you’ve been given.
MYTH BUSTED! 💥
Your body is not a project to perfect.
It’s a gift to steward—not a project to perfect.
So here’s a question to carry into next week:
What if every change in your body isn’t evidence that something has gone wrong? 😉
Let’s steward differently together. 🤍

WHAT IF WE’VE BEEN COMPARING OURSELVES TO AN UNREALISTIC VERSION OF AGING? 🤯
I saw this picture and it got me thinking…
We look at celebrities in their 50s, 60s, and even 70s and think…
“Wow! She looks amazing for her age!”
And then we look in the mirror.
The wrinkles.
The changing skin.
The changing shape of our bodies.
The gray hairs.
The effects of hormones and decades of living.
And we wonder why we don’t look like THAT.
But here’s something worth remembering.
Many celebrities have access to things the average woman simply doesn’t.
Personal chefs.
Personal trainers.
Expensive skincare.
Cosmetic procedures.
Hormone specialists.
Treatments and resources most of us will never have.
Not to mention professional lighting, makeup, photography, and editing.
We are comparing our everyday aging to an appearance that may require extraordinary resources to maintain.
And then we’re disappointed in ourselves for looking our age!
Can we talk about how ridiculous that is?!
I’m not criticizing anyone for choosing those things.
But I am questioning why we’ve allowed that version of aging to become the standard.
Because somewhere along the way, we’ve started treating the visible signs of aging like evidence that we’re doing something wrong.
And I’m not buying it anymore.
Aging isn’t a failure to maintain ourselves. It’s evidence that we’ve been given more life to live.
I want to care for my body.
I want to be strong.
I want to be healthy.
I want to have energy to love and serve the people God has placed in my life.
But I don’t want to spend the gift of growing older fighting to look like I haven’t.
I’m choosing to pursue ABILITY over VANITY.
And I’m learning to be grateful for the privilege of aging instead of treating it like a problem to solve.
💗 What if we stopped asking, “How can I look younger?” and started asking, “How can I live fully in the years God is giving me?”

Have you washed your hands?
Today on my walk I was thinking about how often Scripture connects coming before God with clean hands and a pure heart.
And I want to be really clear about something:
This is NOT—
Clean yourself up so you can come to God.
We come because He invited us.
We have access because of Jesus.
Grace gives us a seat at the table.
But once we know Him, His kindness continually invites us to repentance.
Not because He is looking for a reason to send us away from the table—but because the One who invited us to the table is HOLY.
Maybe “Have you washed your hands?” is less about qualification and more about recognition.
Do I recognize WHOSE presence I am entering?
“Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart.” — Psalm 24:3–4
We don’t repent to earn access.
We repent because His kindness has given us access—and being near a holy God changes us.
There’s something beautiful about being welcomed boldly into His presence while still approaching with reverence.
The table is set.
You’ve been invited.
Come feast.
And in His kindness, when He points to something on our hands and says, Let’s wash that—
we let Him.
Because grace never makes God less holy. 💗
