Let's talk about something we don't talk about enough: pH balance down there.

Your body keeps that area at a pH between 3.8 and 4.5. That's more acidic than the rest of your skin, and it's not by accident. That acidity protects your natural bacteria and keeps irritation away.

"Fragrance" on a label sounds harmless. Legally, it's a loophole.

In the U.S., brands don't have to disclose what's actually inside a "fragrance" blend. It's protected as a trade secret, which means that one word can hide dozens of chemicals, including phthalates. Phthalates are synthetic compounds added to help scent last longer and cling to skin, and repeated exposure has been linked to hormone disruption and irritation, especially for sensitive or reactive skin.

Here's the fix: skip products that just say "fragrance" or "parfum" and look for real, named oils instead, things like lavender, rosemary, or sandalwood. When a brand names its ingredients, it has nothing to hide.
