What do we inherit? And what do we choose to pass forward?

Join People of Progression for The Inheritance Project : Understanding History. Strengthening Families. Shaping the Future. — a two-day summit bringing together community members, families, advocates, educators, healthcare and public health professionals, students, researchers, service providers, and leaders from across sectors.

Featuring award-winning author and scholar Dr. Stacey Patton, Ph.D., we’ll explore the connections between history, family systems, childhood experiences, intergenerational trauma, community health, and the well-being of future generations.

This is more than a conversation about the past. It’s an opportunity to better understand what we have inherited, how it continues to show up today, and what we can intentionally strengthen, heal, and change for those coming after us.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻

It feels like just yesterday we were tilling the soil, preparing the garden, and planting the first seeds. Now, we’ve reached our final harvest of the season. 🥹💚

But the work doesn’t quite end here! Our elders are already gathering and saving seeds from this year’s garden to prepare for next year’s growing season.

This little garden has brought our elders joy, purpose, movement, and connection while allowing them to share fresh, organic produce with our community.

Any remaining produce will be available at 𝗭𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 for the community, 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱, 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻. ❤️
Corn
Peppers
Potato
Tomato

Purple, Yellow and Green Beans

Thank you to our elders and everyone who supported this journey. From one little seed comes another season.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤!

Tonight, our 𝐏𝐚𝐣 𝐍𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐛 𝐂𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐥𝐞 (PNC) reconvened after taking most of the summer off while our Community Program Coordinator, Rasami Moua and her son, Kyu pursued an incredible opportunity together as cast members of Lee Lue The Musical

Our elders were some of their biggest fans & supporters, even attending the musical to cheer them on! Tonight, they welcomed Rasami and Kyu back with open arms, gifts, congratulations, and a special potluck style dinner to celebrate their accomplishment. And Rasami finally got her flowers, the flowers she so deserved. A beautiful reminder of how proud her elders are of her and how deeply she is loved and appreciated.

And although Paj Ntaub took a summer break, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝! Many continued their projects at home and returned with their beautiful Hmong-inspired pillows completed or nearly finished.

It was a wonderful evening of food, laughter, creativity, and love and a beautiful reminder of the special bond within our Paj Ntaub family.

𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫! ❤️

𝗛𝗢𝗡𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗘𝗟𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦 & 𝗔 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗙𝗘𝗟𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗧𝗢 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗦

New Hmong would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the individuals and organizations who generously sponsored tickets for our elders to attend Lee Lue The Musical, a production inspired by the experiences of the Hmong people during the Secret War in Laos and a history marked by war, sacrifice, loss, displacement, survival, and incredible resilience.

For many of the elders we serve, this is not simply a story from history. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱.

Many experienced the war firsthand. They survived it, escaped it, left behind everything they knew, and eventually rebuilt their lives here in America from the ground up, all with the hope of giving their children and future generations a safer and better life.

For some of our elders, it was their first time seeing a musical, sitting in a theater, then seeing pieces of their lived experiences represented on stage was deeply emotional. They shared that parts of the musical were triggering, bringing back painful memories, but that the experience was also healing. Through their reflections, one message stood out: despite everything they endured, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗳 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲.

At NEW HMong, our work with elders goes beyond providing programs and services. It is about supporting their overall well-being, creating meaningful connections, preserving their stories, and reminding them that 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗜𝗥 𝗦𝗔𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗦 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗚𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗨𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗗.

We want our elders to look at the generations who came after them and know that their sacrifices mattered. Their strength and resilience helped make the lives we have today possible. The opportunities we have, the communities we are building, and the ability to preserve and share our stories are part of the legacy they created.

𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱.
𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱.
𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗸𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴.

And for that, 𝗪𝗘 𝗢𝗪𝗘 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗘𝗟𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗗𝗘𝗘𝗣𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗘.

This experience holds an additional special connection for our NEW Hmong family. Our Community Program Coordinator, Rasami Moua portrays Jou's Mom in the production, while her son, Kyu San Juan, portrays Lee Lue's student and child soldier.

None of this would have been possible without those who stepped forward to help our elders experience this important production.

As we enter Su***de Prevention Month, we look back at 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗡𝘁𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗴 𝗦𝗶𝗮𝗯 and continue its message of healing, hope, connection, and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health in our Hmong community.

Mental health matters. Your story matters. 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿.
May we continue creating spaces where our community feels seen, heard, supported, and reminded that no one has to struggle alone. 💜
