Black eyeliner isn’t necessarily the problem — where you put it can make all the difference, especially on mature eyes. 👀

Lining all the way around the eye with a heavy black liner can actually make the eyes appear smaller and pull them downward.

Instead, try concentrating a dark eyeshadow or cream liner on the outer portion of the upper lash line, bringing it slightly out and up. This helps create the illusion of lift while leaving more visible lid space and opening up the eye. You don’t have to skip black, that works too -just a toned down version. That doesn’t look too heavy.

If you like definition underneath, use a softer shadow and keep it very close to the lower lash line rather than creating a heavy line.

It’s such a small change, but look at the difference between the two eyes! ✨

Be careful where you brighten! ✨

As we get older, adding a lighter shade everywhere isn’t necessarily the answer. Brightener can actually draw attention to areas with more texture or fine lines — so where you place it matters.

One of my favorite ways to look more awake and refreshed is to strategically add light to a few key areas.

I place my brightening shade in the inner corners of my eyes, between the eyes, down the center of my nose, and around the sides of my nostrils.

These little touches bring light back to the center of the face and can make everything look brighter, more awake, and refreshed — without emphasizing areas where I don’t necessarily want extra attention.

It’s all about putting the light where you want the eye to go. Oh, the glow!! ✨

Under Eye Struggles? Before you reach for MORE concealer, try this instead! ✨

One of the biggest differences for me has been correcting the darkness first instead of trying to cover it with layer after layer of concealer. We all know where that can lead… cakey under eyes. 😞

I use just a small amount of pink corrector directly on the darkest areas. The pink helps neutralize that darkness so I don’t need nearly as much product on top.

Then I add a light yellow-toned shade along the orbital bone and sweep it toward the temple. This brightens the eye area, creates a more lifted look and also helps soften the pink around the edges if you don’t want pink showing under the entire eye. ✨

But placement is only half of it — how you blend matters too! I use a fluffy brush and tiny circular motions, then lightly feather everything down alongside the nose so it all melts together without any obvious edges.

For mature under eyes, I’ve found that less product + strategic placement + good blending makes such a difference.

Placement really does matter when you’re trying to create a more lifted look.

Quick filming oops — my contour application didn’t make it into the recording, but you can see exactly where I placed it before blending. 😊

I use these two simple lines as a lifting guide, then keep my contour and blush above and inside those lines. Keeping your makeup in this upper area helps create the illusion of a more lifted face — and strategic concealer placement adds even more lift!

If your under eyes still look dark, adding MORE concealer may be the problem. If you’re like me, you’re piling on more trying to fix the problem, but here is a better way!

The trick is to color correct first — and only where you actually need it.

I place a small amount of pink corrector directly over the darkness. That helps neutralize the darkness instead of trying to cover it with layers of makeup. Tell me you haven’t experienced the caking 😞

Then I use a light yellow-toned shade along the orbital bone and out toward the temple to brighten and give the whole eye area a more lifted look. ✨This also neutralizes that pink color along the edges, if you don’t prefer only pink under your eyes.

And don’t skip the blending technique! I use a fluffy brush with tiny circular motions, then lightly feather everything down alongside the nose so there are no obvious edges.

The goal for mature under eyes is less product, strategic placement and lots of blending — not more makeup.

A lifted look doesn’t have to be complicated.

Make sure you’re bringing the first line from the outer corner up to the tail end of the brow. Start the second line in the arch of the brow and bring it down to meet the other line at the tail of the brow. Blend up.
