Hair Knowlogy Salon - Aiken

I had forgotten this information from my first class with June Olson and Horst Rechelbacher in Minneapolis MN, 1984. It was an incident concerning the olfactory system, a woman who worked in an office building had been assaulted in the parking garage several years prior, and the assailant had not been identified. One morning she stepped into the elevator with at least six other people. Within moments she began screaming and when the doors opened a man who worked in the same building bolted from the lift. He was arrested later that day, his body odor had activated her alarm system, this is how empowering the sense of smell can be. There was more incriminating evidence that led to his arrest, but her initial reaction created the beginning force.
I have been with Aveda for most of my adult life. I understand how the olfactory system works; it invokes pleasure and pain.
Recently I have had back-to-back surgery within the time frame of 3 months and could not understand why the persistent odor of the hospitals played such a negative aroma.

Upon Googling the connection, it all made sense. There is a "Hospital Smell Phenomenon." When you have experienced a negative distressing action like surgery, it implants itself in your subconscious memory vault. I will be burning Aveda candles, spraying Aveda Chakras, and trying to dispel this with more pleasant episodes.
Horst was probably the wisest visionary in our lifetime with his take on this.
