Helping women embrace the hair they were fearfully & wonderfully made with. Curly cuts, curl education & realistic routines for every texture.
✂️ A Little Off the Length, A LOT of Curl Transformation! 😍
🎤 Quick apology for the audio quality! My microphones decided not to connect to my phone like they were supposed to. 🤦🏼♀️ Please forgive the less-than-stellar sound! This transformation was just too good not to share! 🩷
She used to have UNICORN CURLS! 🦄➰ And then life happened… specifically, FOUR babies! 🥹💕
In her twenties, she had the kind of curls most of us dream about. Shampoo, conditioner, a little curl cream, and BOOM! Gorgeous, shiny, bouncy ringlets with almost no effort.
But over the years, her hair changed, and the routine that used to work like magic just wasn’t cutting it anymore.
Here’s something I wish more curly girls knew: Your hair can change, and that doesn’t mean you’ve lost your curls forever! ❤️
Hormones, aging, texture changes, and even product buildup can all affect how your curls behave. Sometimes it’s not about trying harder. It’s about learning what your hair needs NOW.
And can we talk about how much trust it takes to let someone experiment with your curls when you’ve been disappointed before?! 🥹
Was this a completely frizz-free transformation? Nope! And I’m okay with that. Even as a curly hair specialist, I’m constantly learning and adjusting my techniques for different hair types.
But that DEFINITION! That BOUNCE! That SHINE! 😍
Helping women rediscover their curls is genuinely one of my favorite things about being behind the chair.
💬 Have your curls changed as you’ve gotten older or after having babies? Tell me in the comments! I want to hear your story!
A little fall refresh for these beautiful curls! 🥰✂️ She wanted those tangly ends cleaned up, her shape refreshed, and enough length to pull everything back.
This is why I ask how you wear your hair UP during a haircut consultation! Where you put your ponytail helps me decide how short those layers can go. Your haircut should work for your real life, including the mornings when you’re throwing it up and heading out the door. 💕
Fresh ends, lovely shape, and look at that bounce!
Are you a high ponytail girl, a low bun girl, or somewhere in between? 👇
When your client has the BEST attitude and says "it's just hair, it'll grow back." 🙌 I would like to bottle that attidude and sell it! She came in with her hair fresh out of braids and a little uneven in the back, totally chill about losing a couple inches to get it right. We detangled, cut, styled, scrunched, and woke those curls all the way up. And that reveal? She said it got stuck in her nose and I'm still laughing. 😂 Proof that a little length is so worth it when your curls bounce back this happy.
Are you a "don't touch my length" girly or an "it's just hair" girly? 👇
A little wave was peeking through… and then those CURLS showed up! 🥹💗
For this sweet client, we brought it all together with a thoughtful haircut, styling, and diffusing to show off her natural texture. And goodness, look how beautiful! ✨
Helping someone see the beauty in their own hair is such a special part of my job. Those moments behind the chair never get old. 🫶🏻
Do you remember the first time you saw what your waves or curls could do? Tell me about it! 👇🏻
This sweet girl is one of my OGs. She came to me all the way back in cosmetology school. But a series of unfortunate events kept us apart longer than either of us wanted, and this was her very first time seeing me in my own salon space. 🥹 So she pulls up a Pinterest photo of her dream hair, and I'm bracing myself because half of those are AI now. Then I look closer and think, okay, she's pulling a little prank showing me a haircut I actually did. Turns out? She had NO idea it was my work. Not AI, not a joke, she genuinely picked my haircut out of the entire internet without knowing it was mine. I cackled. I think I can retire happy now. 😂
Just two wavy girls very sweetly arguing about hair on the internet. 😂🤝➰
Tune in TODAY at 1 PM Central to watch Alyson and me argue some more. 😂💕 Episode 5 of Two Wavy Girls on the Internet is all about everything we’d buy again for our curly hair if we had to start over tomorrow. 👀🛍️
And yes… I’m sure we’ll agree on absolutely everything. 😇😂
🎙️ New episode today at 1 PM Central!
Is that short, fuzzy hair around your halo new growth… or breakage?
In this clip, we’re breaking down how to tell the difference by looking at the way the hair is growing, how it lays, and the shape of the ends.
Also, please enjoy the fact that this is my very first post about Two Wavy Girls on the Internet… and I’m sharing a clip from season 3, episode 4. 😂 I probably should’ve been talking about the podcast a little sooner, but here we are!
This was a live question from one of our listeners, which is one of my favorite parts of the podcast. We include a Q&A in every episode, and when you tune in live, you can ask us your own hair questions and hear us answer them in real time. 💬
This clip is from episode 4: Why Some Haircuts Make Wavy Hair Look Terrible.
Watch the full episode on YouTube, or listen wherever you get your podcasts. If you wanna catch our next live recording, we’ll see you on YouTube Monday 1 PM central standard time!
There's something so sweet about a returning client. 🥰 The first curly appointment is the hard part, where we build your shape from scratch and figure out your curls together. But after that? You come back and it's easy. Today was just a little trim, a little shape cleanup, and keeping all that healthy length we already built. She's been embracing her p**fy 90s Julia Roberts curls, and I am HERE for it.
Curlies, are you a "let it p**f and live" girly, or do you like it defined? 👇
Ever have that ONE piece of hair that refuses to lay right no matter what you do? 🙃 It's not you, and it's not a bad haircut. It's your growth pattern, aka the direction your hair decides to grow with zero input from you. You can't fight it, so the trick is working WITH it. We feathered her rebellious front piece so it swoops soft instead of stabbing her in the eyeball, took a little weight off for volume, and boom. Happy hair. 🥰
Tell me: where's YOUR wildest growth pattern? Cowlick? Face-swooper? The mysterious back p**f? 👇
