15-Year-Old Girl Stabbed Dead in Aweil East

A 15-year-old girl, identified as Ajok Kuol Deng Ajuong, was reportedly stabbed to death by another girl.
This followed an argument in Kuel-Ajuong, Madhol Payam of Aweil East County, on Friday evening.

Sources said the two girls met at a borehole before the dispute erupted around 7:00 PM.

According to Warawar media, Ajok died at the scene before reaching the hospital.

Authorities were not available to comment at the time of this publication.

SPLA-IO Claims Capture of Waat from SSPDF Forces

Juba, December 24, 2025 — The SPLA-IO has claimed it captured the town of Waat earlier this morning following clashes with government forces.

In a brief statement posted on his official page, SPLA-IO spokesperson Col. Lam Paul Gabriel announced that opposition forces had taken control of the SSPDF base in Waat.

“WAAT HAS FALLEN. The SPLA-IO has fully captured the SSPDF base of Waat. Details will follow later,” he wrote.

As of the time of publication, the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) had not issued an official response to the claim, and independent verification of the situation on the ground remains unavailable.

Waat, located in Jonglei State, has previously been a flashpoint for armed confrontations between rival forces. Further updates are expected as more information emerges.

Hussein Abdelbagi Hands Over SSOA Forces to President Kiir

Juba, December 23, 2025 — SSOA leader and Minister of Agriculture Hussein Abdelbagi Akol has officially handed over the list and command of his forces to President Salva Kiir Mayardit, announcing that he is no longer their commander-in-chief.

The handover followed a meeting with President Kiir and Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs Tut Gatluak Manime, during which Abdelbagi submitted documents for the integration of SSOA forces into the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF).

Tut Gatluak confirmed that the forces are now under the direct authority of President Kiir as Commander-in-Chief. The President directed that the troops be disengaged from previous affiliations and integrated into the national army.

Abdelbagi said he now plans to form a political party and contest in the upcoming general elections.
