President Salva Kiir Mayardit says the Inter-Party Dialogue is intended to help political actors agree on a path toward peaceful and credible elections, rather than renegotiate or change the direction of the electoral process.
Kiir said the dialogue is “not a place for negotiations and disagreement” or to “shift the direction” of the path already taken.
He emphasized that its main purpose is to bring political actors together to agree on a peaceful and credible electoral process.

Juba, South Sudan | 24th September 2026
South Sudan’s Caretaker Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Hon. Gen. Ayor Akuoch Anok, alongside Deputy Minister Hon. Gen. Marial Chanuong Yel, has been welcomed at Bilpam General Headquarters, marking the official start of their duties leading the ministry.
The two officials were received by senior military officials at the headquarters as they formally assumed their responsibilities under the newly appointed caretaker government.
