THE TRANSFORMATION OF WARD 2 - CANCER WARD, CONNAUGHT HOSPITAL

There are places that tell a story without saying a word.

For a long time, Ward 2, our Cancer Ward, struggled. It was a difficult place for our most vulnerable and courageous patients to receive care.

Today, the story has changed.

Under the compassionate, visionary, and tireless leadership of Dr. I. Mark Kapuwa, Hospital Care Manager, and a sponsorship by the Show of Madam Sesay based in the UK. Ward 2 Cancer Ward has been completely transformed into a place of dignity, comfort, and hope.

What was once old and broken is now clean, bright, and welcoming. With new comfortable beds, fresh linen, privacy curtains, proper ventilation, mosquito protection, and a serene healing environment, our brave cancer patients can now receive treatment in a space that truly respects their journey.

This is more than just renovation. This is leadership with a human heart. This is a commitment to restoring Connaught Hospital into a hospital we can all be proud of.

On behalf of the Management, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Kapuwa and his entire team, and to the hardworking nurses, cleaners, and support staff of Ward 2 who maintain this beautiful standard every single day.

MEDICATION DONATION FROM MSF TO CONNAUGHT HOSPITAL

Today, 21st September 2026, the Pharmacy Department of Connaught Hospital was pleased to receive a generous donation of essential medications from our valued partners, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

This timely donation will significantly boost our pharmaceutical supplies and help ensure the continuous availability of life-saving medicines for our patients, many of whom depend on the hospital for critical and emergency care.

MSF has been a steadfast partner to Connaught Hospital over the years. We deeply value this partnership which is built on a shared commitment to providing quality and accessible healthcare to all.

STRENGTHENING HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT, QUALITY CARE AND SERVICE DELIVERY

Today, Thursday, 10th September 2026, Connaught Hospital held its Hospital Management Meeting at the Board Room of the Administrative Building, bringing together hospital leadership and relevant departmental representatives to review key areas of operations and service delivery.

The meeting provided an opportunity to assess departmental and unit performance, quality of care and patient safety, infrastructure and equipment, support services, staff training and professional conduct, while also addressing key concerns requiring management attention.

A major focus of the meeting was on identifying practical resolutions, action points and responsibilities to further strengthen the hospital’s operations and improve the experience and safety of patients.

Under the leadership of the Hospital Care Manager, Dr. I. M. Kapuwa, Connaught Hospital remains committed to continuous improvement, accountability and teamwork in delivering quality healthcare to the people of Sierra Leone.

Strengthening Security at Connaught Hospital

Connaught Hospital has signed a security services contract with JMan Security as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security across the hospital.

The partnership will enhance the safety and protection of patients, staff, visitors, and hospital property, while supporting a safer and more secure healthcare environment.
