Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 is currently building another seaport at the cost of US$75 Million Kent–Banana Island Seaport Project Progresses.

Construction of the US$75 million Kent–Banana Island Seaport project, led by Sierra Leonean entrepreneur Mohamed Gento Kamara through the Gento Group of Companies, is continuing to make progress. The project is designed to transform the historic Kent and Banana Island area into a modern maritime and logistics hub that will strengthen Sierra Leone's trade and investment opportunities.

Once completed, the seaport is expected to improve cargo handling, create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, attract local and foreign investment, and boost economic growth.

I've seen many people asking about the return of former President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma. Let me break it down for better understanding. 👇

The Attorney General has the legal authority to discontinue a criminal case by entering a nolle prosequi, which officially ends the court proceedings and releases the accused from custody or bail conditions.

However, this is not an acquittal or a declaration of innocence. It simply means the case has been discontinued for now. The State may reopen or refile the case in the future if there is sufficient new evidence or another lawful basis to do so.

This means there is currently no active criminal case preventing Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma from returning to Sierra Leone. His return follows the discontinuance of the proceedings, not a final court judgment on the allegations.

The Attorney General's action is supported by Sections 64 and 66 of the 1991 Constitution and Section 44 of the Criminal Procedure Act, 1965, which empower the Attorney General to discontinue criminal proceedings before judgment while preserving the State's right to bring fresh charges where the law permits.
