A woman, Isata Conteh, of Matheineh Village, Masimera Chiefdom, Port Loko District, is alleged to have stabbed her father, Issa Conteh, in the right leg with a knife on Tuesday, 25 August 2026.

He was rushed to a health centre but was later pronounced dead. Police have secured the suspect and the knife, while the deceased’s body has been taken to Connaught Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Investigations are ongoing.

The project is designed to transform the historic Kent and Banana Island area into a modern maritime and logistics hub that will strengthen Sierra Leone's trade and investment opportunities.

Once completed, the seaport is expected to improve cargo handling, create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, attract local and foreign investment, and boost economic growth.
