💜 Could magnesium be one of the missing pieces in your child’s daily nutrition?
Sometimes, we focus so much on vitamins, omega-3s, gut health and therapy that we forget about a mineral our bodies use for hundreds of essential processes—magnesium. 👀
For kids who have limited diets, picky eating, or difficulty getting enough magnesium from food, supplementation may be worth discussing with their pediatrician.
✨ Why magnesium matters for growing kids:
• 🧠 Supports normal nerve and brain function
• 💪 Helps support healthy muscle function and relaxation
• 😴 Plays a role in normal sleep and relaxation
• ❤️ Supports normal cardiovascular and metabolic function
• ⚡ Involved in energy production and many biochemical reactions
And why Magnesium Glycinate?
Magnesium glycinate combines magnesium with glycine and is commonly chosen because it is generally well tolerated and well absorbed compared with some other forms.
🌿 Nordic Naturals Magnesium Glycinate offers 250 mg of magnesium per 3 capsules and is made with a focus on quality and purity.
But here's something important, especially for our Ausome kids:
👉 More isn't always better.
Not every child needs a magnesium supplement, and the appropriate amount depends on age, diet, other supplements, medications, and individual needs. For children, it's best to ask your pediatrician or qualified healthcare professional about the right dose before starting.
💙 This is not about finding a “miracle supplement.”
It's about making sure our children's nutritional foundations are not overlooked.
And sometimes… the smallest nutritional gaps are the ones worth paying attention to. 🌱
📌 Ausome Options 2.0 is accepting PRE-ORDERS for Nordic Naturals Magnesium Glycinate.
If you're wondering whether magnesium might be appropriate for your child, send us a message. Let's talk about it first—because informed choices are always better choices. 💙

A first-time user child can experience some noticeable effects when starting Nordic Naturals Omega-3, but most are mild and temporary. Omega-3 supplements are generally well tolerated when used appropriately.
🌿 What parents might notice at first
Some children may experience:
Fishy taste or burps
Fishy breath
Mild stomach discomfort
Nausea
Looser stools or diarrhea
Heartburn/reflux, particularly if taken on an empty stomach
Occasionally, headache or unusual body odor/sweat
These don't necessarily mean the child is "detoxing" or that the fish oil is working. They are recognized possible side effects of omega-3 supplementation.
💡 For a first-time child user
A practical approach is:
Start with the age-appropriate serving on the product label, preferably with a meal. Nordic Naturals specifically recommends taking children's supplements with food, which can also make them easier on the stomach.
If the child is sensitive, some parents prefer introducing it gradually rather than immediately giving a larger amount—but the appropriate dose should ultimately be based on the specific Nordic Naturals product, the child's age, diet, and health needs.
Also, don't assume that a stronger reaction means a better result. The goal is good tolerance and consistent intake, not noticeable symptoms.
⚠️ When to check with the child's doctor
Discuss supplementation beforehand if the child has a medical condition, takes regular medication, has a bleeding disorder, is scheduled for surgery, or has a history of significant reactions to fish/seafood. Omega-3 supplements can interact with some medicines, particularly anticoagulants, and higher doses have greater relevance for bleeding risk.

🌱 DAY 30/30 — OUR JOURNEY DOESN’T END HERE. WE KEEP GROWING. 💛
30 days ago, we started this journey with questions, curiosity, and hope.
Today, we reach the final day of our 30-Day Folinic Acid Journey—but this is NOT the end.
Because when you’re a parent, you know something very well:
There is no “final day” when it comes to helping our children grow. ❤️
There are still questions to ask.
Still things to learn.
Still progress to observe.
Still adjustments to make.
And yes… sometimes, still challenges to face.
🌱 The goal was never to chase a miracle.
It was to become more informed, more observant, and more intentional about the choices we make for our children.
Along the way, we talked about:
🔹 What folinic acid is
🔹 What research says—and what it doesn’t say yet
🔹 Starting low and going slow
🔹 Possible changes and side effects to watch
🔹 Tracking progress instead of relying on memory
🔹 Nutrition, gut health, and supportive routines
🔹 The importance of therapy and education
🔹 Celebrating small wins
🔹 Knowing when something may not be the right fit
🔹 And most importantly… working with our children's healthcare professionals
But perhaps the biggest lesson is this:
✨ Every child is different.
✨ Every journey is different.
✨ Progress doesn't always look the way we expect.
✨ And one child's experience should never become another child's promise.
Some families may notice meaningful changes.
Some may notice very little.
Some may decide to stop.
Others may continue while monitoring carefully.
And all of those experiences deserve to be approached with respect, patience, and good information.
💛 To every parent who followed this 30-day journey:
Thank you for learning with us.
Thank you for asking questions.
Thank you for looking beyond quick fixes.
And thank you for remembering that behind every supplement, therapy, diet, or intervention is a real child with their own unique needs, personality, strengths, and timeline.
Our children don't need us to have all the answers.
They need us to keep learning, keep observing, keep advocating, and keep showing up. 🤍
🌿 DAY 30 IS NOT THE END.
It is simply the end of this chapter.
The next chapter is KEEP GROWING.
Keep learning.
Keep researching.
Keep tracking.
Keep communicating with your child's healthcare team.
Keep celebrating the little things.
Keep adjusting when needed.
Keep believing in possibilities—without losing sight of reality.
Because sometimes the biggest progress isn't a dramatic change.
Sometimes it's a new word.
A better night.
A calmer moment.
A new skill.
A little more connection.
A tiny step that nobody else notices…
…but YOU do. 🥹💛
And those little moments are worth celebrating.
🌱 To the parents still searching for answers:
You are not alone.
🌱 To the parents already on the journey:
Keep learning.
🌱 To the parents who are still deciding whether folinic acid is right for their child:
Take your time. Ask questions. Do your research. Talk with your child's healthcare professional.
And to every parent who feels like progress is taking too long:
Don't measure your child's journey against someone else's timeline.
Their story is still being written. 📖✨
30 DAYS. 30 LESSONS. COUNTLESS QUESTIONS. ONE CONTINUING JOURNEY.
This may be the final post of our Folinic Acid Journey, but our commitment to awareness, informed choices, and supporting families continues.
Because…
🌱 OUR JOURNEY DOESN’T END HERE.
💛 WE KEEP LEARNING.
🌱 WE KEEP GROWING.
✨ WE KEEP SHOWING UP.
What was the ONE thing you learned from our 30-day journey?

Your experience might be the encouragement another parent needs today.

🌱 FOLINIC ACID JOURNEY — DAY 29/30
Encouragement for Today, Hope for Tomorrow 💛
To the parent who is still waiting… this post is for YOU.
Maybe you started with hope.
Maybe you were excited about the possibilities.
Maybe you’ve already seen little changes.
Or maybe… you’re still wondering if anything is happening at all.
Please remember this:
✨ Progress doesn't always announce itself.
Sometimes it looks like one new word.
Sometimes it's better eye contact.
Sometimes it's trying a new food.
Sometimes it's fewer difficult moments.
Sometimes it's simply your child having a better day.
And sometimes… there may be no obvious change yet.
That doesn't automatically mean you've failed. ❤️
🌿 EVERY CHILD'S JOURNEY IS DIFFERENT
Folinic acid isn't a magic solution, and it isn't guaranteed to work for every child.
If you're considering it or already using it, the most important things are:
✔️ Start thoughtfully — follow your healthcare professional's guidance.
✔️ Observe carefully — track communication, behavior, sleep, appetite, and other meaningful changes.
✔️ Be patient — don't expect overnight transformation.
✔️ Look at the whole child — nutrition, sleep, therapy, learning, environment, and overall health all matter.
✔️ Listen to your child — if something doesn't feel right, talk to your healthcare professional.
✔️ Celebrate the small wins — because small steps can be incredibly meaningful.
💛 And remember: You don't have to compare your child's timeline with someone else's.
Another child's Day 10 is not your child's Day 10.
Another family's experience is not your family's experience.
🌈 FOR THOSE WHO ARE JUST THINKING ABOUT STARTING…
You don't have to rush.
Research. Ask questions. Talk to your child's doctor. Understand the possible benefits and possible side effects.
And most importantly, make an informed decision that is appropriate for YOUR child.
There is nothing wrong with hoping.
There is also nothing wrong with taking your time.
💕 TO EVERY PARENT ON THIS JOURNEY…
You are doing something incredibly important:
You are showing up.
On the easy days.
On the frustrating days.
On the days filled with questions.
And even on the days when you feel completely exhausted.
Your child doesn't need a perfect parent.
They need a parent who keeps loving, learning, advocating, and believing in them. 🫶
🌱 Encouragement for today:
Keep observing. Keep learning. Keep advocating.
🌤️ Hope for tomorrow:
There may be another small step waiting to be discovered.
And if today's progress feels tiny…
remember how far you've already come. 💛

Question: DO WE NEED TO REFRIGERATE ONCE OPENED?
No. California Gold Nutrition Folinic Acid Alcohol-Free liquid does not need to be refrigerated after opening.
The manufacturer recommends storing it at controlled room temperature: 20–25°C (68–77°F). It specifically warns that extended exposure to heat, humidity, or direct sunlight can cause degradation over time.
🇵🇭 For storage in the Philippines
Because our climate can be much hotter and more humid than the recommended range, I would suggest:
🌡️ Keep it in the coolest, driest area of the house.
☀️ Keep it away from direct sunlight—don't leave it on a windowsill or near a hot appliance.
🚗 Never leave it in a hot car.
🧴 Close the bottle tightly after every use.
💧 Avoid storing it in places with high humidity, such as the bathroom.
❄️ Refrigeration is not required. If your home regularly gets considerably hotter than 25°C, refrigeration may seem tempting, but the manufacturer's stated storage condition is controlled room temperature rather than refrigerated storage.
One important distinction: this California Gold Folinic Acid is different from some liquid supplements (such as certain fish oils) that specifically say "refrigerate after opening." For this particular product, the manufacturer's instruction is room-temperature storage.

🌿 FOLINIC ACID JOURNEY — DAY 28/30
Staying Consistent: Progress Loves Patience, Not Perfection 💛
What if the secret isn’t doing MORE… but simply staying consistent?
When families begin a folinic acid journey, it’s easy to become excited and watch closely for every little change. But real-life parenting doesn’t always go according to plan. 😅
Missed a dose?
Busy day?
Child refuses it?
Not seeing changes yet?
Take a breath. You haven't failed. ❤️
Consistency is not about being perfect. It’s about creating a routine that your family can realistically maintain.
✨ 5 TIPS FOR A MORE CONSISTENT JOURNEY
1️⃣ Build it into your daily routine
Choose a time that naturally fits your child’s schedule—such as alongside breakfast or another established routine.
2️⃣ Keep a simple record 📝
Track the dose, timing, and anything important you notice: communication, attention, sleep, appetite, mood, or behavior.
You don’t need complicated charts. Simple notes can be valuable.
3️⃣ Avoid changing everything at once
If several supplements, foods, therapies, or routines change simultaneously, it can become difficult to understand what may be contributing to a change.
4️⃣ Don't chase every small change
Some days may look better. Others may not. Development is rarely a straight line.
Look for patterns over time—not perfection from day to day.
5️⃣ Work with your child's healthcare professional 👩⚕️👨⚕️
Especially when adjusting doses, dealing with side effects, or combining supplements with medications. Individual responses can differ, and more is not necessarily better.
💡 AND HERE'S AN IMPORTANT REMINDER:
Folinic acid is not a magic switch and there are no guarantees that every child will benefit in the same way.
The purpose of this journey isn't to promise an outcome.
It's to learn, observe, document, ask questions, and make informed decisions.
🌱 Small steps. Consistent habits. Realistic expectations.
And if progress happens, celebrate it—even when it looks tiny.
Because sometimes the biggest changes begin with something that seems small:
“Today, my child tried something new.”
“Today, communication was a little easier.”
“Today, we had a calmer moment.”
Those moments are worth noticing. 💛
📌 SAVE THIS POST for the days when you feel discouraged.
And if you're on your own folinic acid journey, remember:
You don't have to be perfect. You just have to keep learning and moving forward—one day at a time. 🌿

🔬 FOLINIC ACID JOURNEY — DAY 27/30
📚 RESEARCH UPDATE: WHAT DOES SCIENCE SAY TODAY?
If you've been following our journey and wondering:
“Okay… but what does the science ACTUALLY say?”
This one is for you. 👀💚
Because when it comes to folinic acid and autism, there are promising findings—but also BIG reasons to stay cautious.
🔎 WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR
Some small clinical studies have reported improvements in areas such as verbal communication, behavior, and social functioning, with some evidence suggesting that children with folate-related differences—such as folate receptor alpha autoantibodies—may respond differently.
👉 That's interesting.
But interesting doesn't automatically mean proven.
Most studies so far have been small, many involving fewer than 100 participants, and researchers have used different methods and outcome measures. The AAP notes that there has not yet been a large, multicenter Phase 3 randomized controlled trial establishing effectiveness and safety for autistic children as a broad population.
⚠️ HERE'S AN IMPORTANT 2026 UPDATE
One randomized controlled trial published in 2024 was retracted in January 2026 because of concerns about its reported analyses and conclusions. That doesn't erase the other research—but it reminds us why we should never build a health decision around one exciting study or headline.
Another small 2025 pilot study involving only 10 children found the treatment was feasible and showed some promising trends, but the changes were not statistically significant, and the researchers themselves called for larger placebo-controlled trials.
🧠 SO WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE US?
The honest answer is:
PROMISING? YES.
PROVEN FOR EVERY AUTISTIC CHILD? NO.
The American Academy of Pediatrics currently does not recommend routine leucovorin (folinic acid) use for autism, stating that there isn't enough evidence yet to determine who is most likely to benefit, the best dosing and monitoring approach, or long-term safety.
And that's exactly why our journey isn't about saying:
❌ “This will work for your child.”
It's about saying:
✅ Learn the science.
✅ Ask questions.
✅ Know the limitations.
✅ Track your child's response.
✅ Work with your healthcare professional.
❤️ FOR THE PARENT WHO IS HOPING…
You don't have to choose between HOPE and CAUTION.
You can have both.
You can be excited about a possibility while still asking:
“What is the evidence?”
“What don't we know yet?”
“Could my child be different?”
“How will we know if it's actually helping?”
That's not being negative.
That's being an informed parent. 💚
And remember: folinic acid should never replace therapies, education, developmental supports, or other care that are already helping your child. The goal is comprehensive care—not searching for one magic answer.
🌱 SCIENCE CHANGES.
New studies can strengthen an idea—or challenge what we thought we knew.
So let's keep learning.
📌 SAVE THIS POST.

🌱 FOLINIC ACID JOURNEY — DAY 26/30
LONG-TERM USE: WHAT DO WE KNOW SO FAR?
We’ve talked about starting low.
We’ve talked about side effects.
We’ve talked about tracking changes.
We’ve talked about talking to your doctor.
But here's the question many parents eventually ask:
“If my child seems to benefit… can they take folinic acid for a long time?” 🤔
And this is where we need to be REALLY honest.
🔎 THE TRUTH: WE DON'T HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS YET.
Folinic acid (leucovorin) has been used medically for many years for established indications, but that does NOT mean we already know everything about long-term use specifically for autistic children.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) says important questions about how long children should take leucovorin and the risks of long-term high-dose use remain unanswered. Larger, better-designed studies are still needed.
That doesn't mean:
❌ “It is definitely unsafe.”
But it also doesn't mean:
❌ “It is proven safe for years of use in every autistic child.”
The honest answer is:
👉 We need more evidence.
🧠 SO WHAT SHOULD PARENTS DO?
If a child is using folinic acid under medical guidance, don't simply think:
“It's working, so we'll keep giving it forever.”
Instead, think:
“Is the benefit still meaningful enough to continue?”
That's a very different mindset. ❤️
Keep asking:
📌 Is there a measurable benefit?
📌 What specific changes are we seeing?
📌 Are there unwanted effects?
📌 Is the dose still appropriate?
📌 Are other medications or supplements changing?
📌 Should we reassess the plan?
📌 When should we consider adjusting or stopping?
📊 DON'T STOP TRACKING JUST BECAUSE THINGS ARE GOING WELL.
This is something I really want parents to remember.
When we see improvement, it's easy to stop documenting.
But tracking isn't only for problems.
Track the wins too! 🎉
🗣️ Communication
👀 Attention
😊 Regulation
😴 Sleep
🍽️ Appetite/GI changes
📚 Learning
🤝 Social interaction
⚠️ Irritability or behavioral activation
A simple monthly record can help you and your doctor see whether the change is consistent, meaningful and worth continuing.
⚠️ AND REMEMBER…
Some children in studies have experienced effects such as irritability, agitation, appetite changes and gastrointestinal symptoms. Individual responses can be positive, neutral, or negative.
That's why “more” isn't automatically better.
And “longer” isn't automatically better.
The goal should be:
💚 THE RIGHT PLAN FOR THE RIGHT CHILD.
Not the highest dose.
Not the longest duration.
Not the trend everyone on social media is following.
Individualized care + monitoring + medical guidance.
The AAP currently does not recommend routine leucovorin use for autism, because evidence remains insufficient to establish who is most likely to benefit, appropriate dosing/monitoring, and long-term safety.
That is why our Folinic Acid Journey isn't about telling parents:
“Give this to your child.”
It's about encouraging parents to:
LEARN → ASK → TRACK → DISCUSS → REASSESS. 🌱
Because being hopeful and being cautious can exist at the same time.
❤️ TO THE PARENT WHO IS JUST JOINING US…
If you're researching folinic acid because you're hoping to help your child communicate, learn, regulate, or simply thrive a little more—
you don't have to rush.
You don't have to follow someone else's timeline.
And you don't have to feel guilty for asking difficult questions.
Hope should come with informed decisions.
📌 SAVE this post for your future doctor conversations.

💬 And tell us: What is the ONE question about long-term use you've been afraid to ask?
Tomorrow, we continue our journey. 💚
Day 26/30 — Because informed parents don't just look for hope. They look for evidence, too.
