🦋 PALANG-AH FALLS: THE CHAIR-SHAPED GEM OF TULGAO

A landmark where cold waters, warm springs, and rainbows meet

Deep in the heart of Tulgao West, Tinglayan, Kalinga, nestled beside a rugged ravine, lies one of our barangay’s most cherished natural treasures — Palang-ah Falls. Its name comes from the local word palang-ah, meaning chair — a fitting title, for the falls cascades down in a shape that evokes the very seat of nature itself, as if the mountains carved a resting place for all who visit.

Rising roughly 40 feet high, the falls have, over time, carved a deep, clear pool into the rock below. The water here is icy-cold and crystal-clear, so pure it refreshes the spirit and soothes tired bodies after the journey in. On bright days, when sunlight strikes the falling water, a rainbow arches over the pool — a fleeting, beautiful sight that feels like nature’s own welcome.

What makes Palang-ah truly special, though, is its rare gift: just a short walk away, a natural hot spring flows. Here, visitors can step from the cold, invigorating plunge of the falls into the warm, soothing embrace of the spring — a one-of-a-kind experience of cold and heat, side by side, in the same place. It is a place where the earth shows both its cool and its warmth, a perfect balance found only here.
