This October, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines joins the nation in celebrating Museums and Galleries Month (MGM) 2026 with the theme, โ€œBridging Divides: Preserving the Present for Tomorrow.โ€

Observed every October pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 798, s. 1991, MGM celebrates the important role of museums and galleries in nurturing national consciousness, strengthening our connection with our cultural heritage, and carrying the stories of our communities forward. More than repositories of objects from the past, museums are living spaces for learning, dialogue, and discovery.

For the NHCP, these spaces extend across the country through our shrines, museums, and historical landmarks. They preserve the places where history happened, safeguard objects and memories that help tell our national story, and bring Filipinos closer to the lives, struggles, ideas, and communities that shaped our nation.

This yearโ€™s theme reminds us that history and heritage can help bridge distances between generations, communities, and different experiences. Museums become meaningful when the histories they preserve are shared, discussed, questioned, and made accessible to the people whose stories they tell.

Throughout October, we celebrate the people and communities who keep these places alive and the visitors who continue to discover something new within them.

Hereโ€™s to a month of exploring, remembering, and making history come alive! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

๐Ÿค– โ€œDigital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourismโ€

As technology continues to transform the way we travel, discover destinations, and experience culture, tourism must also embrace innovation while keeping people, communities, culture, and sustainability at the heart of development.

For Candelaria, this is an opportunity to look forwardโ€”to explore how digital innovation and emerging technologies can help us promote our destinations, empower our local tourism stakeholders, improve visitor experiences, and bring to a wider audience.

๐ŸŒฟ SAMATO LINK & SAMATO EXPLORE | September 16, 2026
๐Ÿ“ Candelaria, Quezon

The second day of the SAMATO 3rd Quarterly Meeting brought the Samahan ng mga Tourism Officers ng Quezon to Candelaria for a day of meaningful connections, community engagement, and tourism experiences through two of the organizationโ€™s flagship programs: SAMATO Link and SAMATO Explore.

๐Ÿค SAMATO Link began at Mangarey Farm, where the tourism officers took part in a community clean-up activity in partnership with the Candelaria Resort Operators Society (CROS). The activity was also highlighted by the turnover of cleaning materials and first aid kits to CROS, strengthening the spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility in maintaining Candelariaโ€™s tourism destinations.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ The group then proceeded to the Municipal Hall of Candelaria for a courtesy call at the Office of the Municipal Mayor. During the visit, the Municipality of Candelaria was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for hosting the 3rd Quarterly Meeting of SAMATO Quezon. The Candelaria Tourism Office also prepared a simple token of appreciation for the tourism officers as they explored the municipality.

๐ŸŒป The day continued with SAMATO Explore at Girasoles Farm, where the tourism officers experienced one of Candelariaโ€™s agri-tourism destinations firsthand. They explored the farm, tried picking their own sili, and experienced feeding the red tilapiaโ€”a glimpse of the hands-on and experiential activities that make Candelariaโ€™s agri-tourism offerings unique.

From building partnerships and caring for our destinations to discovering the experiences that make our town special.

Thank you, SAMATO Quezon, for experiencing ! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒป

We hope you take home not only good memories, but also a little piece of Candelaria with you. ๐Ÿ’š
