MJ Makes Handmade is a creative service providing lessons, advice & commissioned handmade needlework. (See Keep Smiling, in the Commissioned Needlework album).

I am a self-taught embroiderer, specialising in cross stitch. I have been stitching on-and-off for about 25 years, and now stitch almost every day! I take immense joy in teaching what I love, particularly when others are made aware of the benefits of engaging in crafts. I have taught Learn to Cross Stitch lessons via Meet Up while living in London, and had my work published in two UK cross stitch

Part 10 is complete! πŸ‘πŸΌ I've changed the colour of the door to my favourite colour. πŸ˜„ I've decided that I don't want this to reach it's 10th anniversary, so I will finish it this year!

Yesterday, I took the train up to a friend's place, to use the gas hob, so I could dye some fabric for my first ever Long Dog Sampler. I had been gifted some DMC 938 and chose Scarlet iDye over a darker neutral base. I am VERY pleased with the result, it's exactly how I imagined it! Thanks Leigh, The Ribbon Rose for the fabric and Made Marion Craft for the dye. πŸ‘πŸΌ

Progress on part 10 sees me reach the bottom at the base of the last stepping stone. πŸ‘πŸΌ I've made the large house smaller than charted, and am tempted to change the colour of the door. My goal for the is to have part 10 complete by the end of February 2027, but I may just push through for a finish this year!
