I just spent the weekend in Christchurch at Momentum Programme Aotearoa Kotahi '26 – student committees from all over Aotearoa syncing brains for 48 hours. 🧠🚀

I got asked to join the Otago team earlier this year and it’s been a constant source of inspiration since.

This weekend: startup ecosystems → foreign investment policy → global conflict → simulation theory. Sometimes in the same breath.

As an WFH founder who usually has to actively seek out IRL conversation, I was completely out of words by midday Sunday. 😮‍💨

Highlight: meeting two Master of Design students from Massey University — my old stomping ground 👩🏻‍🎓.

Ruby designed an adaptive swimming prosthesis for lower-limb amputees, inspired by her own mum. Megan created an upper-body supportive garment for people who've had a unilateral mastectomy without reconstruction.

Both projects came from the same place:
close, careful attention to bodies the mainstream design world routinely overlooks. That's what impact-driven, female-founded design looks like when it's done well. 💡✨

If New Zealand's business leaders aren't actively tapping into this wildly diverse cross-section of talent, disciplinary range, and sheer problem-solving ability, they're not just missing an opportunity – they're missing the people already building the country's next chapter.

Grateful to be even a small part of it. 🙏🏽
