The first Tea Festival in Amsterdam!

Photos from Amsterdam Tea Festival's post 02/10/2026

Thereโ€™s something very special about tea festivals.

Not only because of the tea itself, but because of the people behind everything you see on the table. The person who grows or picks the leaves. The founder who spent years learning from one region. The ceramicist who shaped every cup by hand. The person who brought a tradition from home and found a way to share it somewhere new.

At Brussels Tea Fest, we were reminded how beautiful it is to have all of those stories in one room.

You can taste something, ask where it came from, meet the person who made it, hear why they chose that clay, that garden, that method, that shape. And suddenly itโ€™s not just a product anymore. It has a place, a history and a person attached to it.

Everyone comes from somewhere different, everyone has learned tea in a different way, and thatโ€™s exactly what makes gatherings like this feel so alive.

We loved spending the day talking, tasting, discovering new work and meeting the people behind it all. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿต

Meet one of the exhibitors of Amsterdam Tea Festival 2027: YUMM CHA. ๐Ÿค

YUMM CHA YUMM CHA | Artisan Tea and Incense is an Amsterdam-based tea and incense brand founded by certified practitioners from Taiwan and China.

For them, tea is closely connected to the people who make it, the place it comes from and the objects and materials surrounding the tea table. Their selection is built through relationships with tea and incense masters, ecological gardens and a heritage incense house, with attention to the character and story behind each piece. Amsterdam_tea_festival_2027Deck.pdf

At Amsterdam Tea Festival, theyโ€™ll be introducing a new selection of high-mountain oolongs from Taiwan and China, Phoenix Dancong teas and teas from individual gardens, alongside vintage Yixing teapots and natural agarwood and sandalwood incense. Amsterdam_tea_festival_2027Deck.pdf

YUMM CHA describes this world through leaf, wood and clay โ€” tea, incense and teaware coming together as parts of the same experience. At their table, youโ€™ll be able to taste the teas, explore the objects around them and learn more about where they come from and the people behind them.

Itโ€™s a beautiful example of how a tea table can tell a much bigger story than what is simply in the cup.

Weโ€™re very happy to welcome YUMM CHA to Amsterdam Tea Festival 2027 and look forward to discovering their selection with you. ๐Ÿต๐Ÿค

Meet one of the exhibitors of Amsterdam Tea Festival 2027: Teasta Teas. ๐Ÿค

Teasta Teas Teasta brings a selection of whole-leaf teas from India, with a focus on teas from the renowned gardens of Darjeeling and Assam.

Their collection moves across different styles โ€” black tea, green tea and oolong โ€” alongside Ayurvedic-inspired herbal blends, turmeric lattes and handmade ceramic cups from India.

Teasta was created from a wish to share more of the taste and heritage of Indian tea with a wider audience. Their approach is centred around tea that feels authentic, enjoyable and approachable, while still keeping a clear connection to where it comes from and how it is traditionally enjoyed.

At the festival, visitors will be able to taste different teas from their collection, compare flavours and styles, learn more about Indian tea regions and discover how broad the world of Indian tea can actually be.

Because there isnโ€™t one single โ€œIndian tea experienceโ€. Darjeeling and Assam already offer very different expressions, and beyond the leaf itself, tea can be prepared and enjoyed in many ways โ€” plain, with milk, with spices, with herbs, or as part of completely different everyday rituals.

That variety is exactly what we love bringing into Amsterdam Tea Festival: not one idea of tea, but many traditions, tastes and ways of drinking it existing side by side.

We are very happy to welcome Teasta Teas to Amsterdam Tea Festival 2027 and look forward to discovering their selection with you. ๐Ÿต๐Ÿค

Join the second edition of the international Amsterdam Tea Festival 2027 ๐Ÿค

Weโ€™re bringing together people from different countries, disciplines and tea cultures for our second edition โ€” and there are many ways to become part of it.

Weโ€™re looking for vendors, workshop hosts, artists, speakers & panelists, performers, sponsors and volunteers who want to contribute to a festival built around tea, culture, craft, hospitality, design, education and community.

That can mean bringing your tea brand or ceramic practice, leading a workshop, sharing your knowledge or research, exhibiting art, joining a panel conversation, performing as part of the cultural programme, supporting the festival as a partner, or helping us bring the day to life as a volunteer.

Amsterdam Tea Festival is not about one single way of experiencing tea. We want this edition to bring together different origins, traditions, practices and contemporary interpretations โ€” and create space for people to taste, learn, exchange ideas and discover something they may not have encountered before.

How to join:
โ€ข Vendors + Workshop Hosts โ†’ go to amsterdamteafestival.com, choose the relevant Vendor or Workshop Host button, create your account, and complete the registration form in your personal dashboard. The application process is handled automatically through the platform.
โ€ข Artists, Speakers/Panelists, Performers + Sponsors โ†’ email [email protected]
โ€ข Volunteers โ†’ DM us VOLUNTEER27

If you have questions, have a look at the FAQ page on our website โ€” we update it regularly with practical information about applications, participation, workshops, tickets and the festival itself. And if you still canโ€™t find what you need, you can always email us at [email protected].

Meet one of the exhibitors of Amsterdam Tea Festival 2027: De Honing Koning. ๐Ÿค

De Honing Koning Adrian Cashes brings Romanian honey from the landscapes around Sibiu, in Transylvania, to Amsterdam โ€” connecting small local beekeepers with people who want to discover honey with a clear sense of place and origin.

The story is personal. Founder Adrian grew up near Sibiu, surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains, forests and villages where beekeeping has long been part of family life. After moving to Amsterdam more than ten years ago, one of the things he missed most was the honey he remembered from home โ€” including eating it straight from the honeycomb at his grandparentsโ€™ house.

Eventually, that memory became De Honing Koning.

As Adrian puts it:

โ€œI realised I didnโ€™t just have to miss it โ€” I could bring it here.โ€

At the festival, visitors will be able to discover several very different Romanian honeys, including acacia, wild raspberry, linden, chestnut and sunflower honey.

Each brings something different to the tea table: delicate acacia honey that can sit quietly beside finer teas, aromatic linden honey, darker and more characterful chestnut honey, and the particularly special wild raspberry honey collected in limited quantities from Romanian forest and mountain areas.

And honestly, honey belongs at a tea festival for another reason too: there is no one โ€œcorrectโ€ way to enjoy tea.

Across different countries and homes, people add honey, sugar, milk, herbs, spices โ€” or nothing at all. Some people love their tea completely plain, others want a little sweetness, and some reach for honey in matcha, herbal infusions or a strong black tea.

Tea culture is full of different habits, and that is exactly what makes it interesting. So yes, we absolutely support the person who says: โ€œjust a tiny spoon of honey.โ€ ;)

We are very happy to welcome De Honing Koning to Amsterdam Tea Festival 2027 and look forward to tasting their Romanian honey with you. ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿต

Which tea pet is calling your name today? ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿˆ๐ŸŸ

If youโ€™ve ever looked closely at a Gongfu tea table, you may have noticed a tiny creature sitting quietly between the teapot and cups.

Meet the tea pet โ€” ่Œถๅฎ  (chรก chว’ng).

Tea pets are small clay figures that live on the tea tray. During a tea session, leftover tea or water is poured over them, almost as if they are being served alongside everyone else. Unglazed clay pets can slowly develop a deeper colour and patina over time โ€” so the longer they sit through tea sessions with you, the more character they gain.

And choosing one is often part symbolism, part personality, part simply: I saw this little creature and needed it immediately.

Different figures have gathered different associations over time, although their meanings are not one fixed system and can vary between makers and traditions.

For our little tea-pet prediction:

๐Ÿธ The Meditating Frog โ€” patience, stillness and a little prosperity energy.
๐Ÿ‰ The Imperial Dragon โ€” confidence, strength and protection.
๐Ÿˆ The Plump Cat โ€” comfort, contentment and very serious cozy-tea energy.
๐ŸŸ The Koi Fish โ€” persistence, movement and going with the flow.

But perhaps the best tea pet is simply the one that makes you smile every time you sit down to make tea.

Some tea lovers keep one for years. Others somehow start with one and suddenly have an entire population living on the tea tray. We understand both situations. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

So before you swipe through the carousel: pick one first. No overthinking. Which tea pet pulled you in?

And whatever your prediction says, we already know one part of your future:

If youโ€™ve been thinking about joining us this January, this is the moment to secure your place while the current exhibitor rate is still available.

After that:

Wave 3
