Detangling dry hair is so pa*inful

I was passing through a salon in the market when I saw a lady with thick natural hair being detangled completely dry.

Her hair was very dense, and the stylist was pulling a comb through it with force. The poor lady just sat there, enduring the pain.

This is one of the biggest mistakes you can make with natural hair.

Dry hair has very little slip. When you force a comb through it, the strands stretch, snap, and break. You may remove the tangles, but you'll also lose a lot of healthy hair in the process.

Before detangling thick natural hair, always soften it first. Lightly dampen the hair with water, then apply a leave-in conditioner or a good detangling product to provide slip. Detangle in sections, starting from the ends and working your way up to the roots.

Detangling should not feel like a punishment. If it is causing excessive pain, something is being done the wrong way.
