🚨38 WEEKS PREGNANT BUT NOT IN LABOUR? 🤰🏽 — HERE’S WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

If you are 38 weeks pregnant and you have not started labour, it does not automatically mean that something is wrong. ❤️

Many pregnant women become worried when they reach 38 weeks without contractions, pain, or other obvious signs of labour. But the timing of labour varies from woman to woman, and there is no specific symptom that can tell you exactly when labour will begin.

🤰🏽 WHAT DOES 38 WEEKS MEAN?

At 38 weeks, your pregnancy is considered early term.

- 37 weeks to 38 weeks + 6 days: Early term
- 39 weeks to 40 weeks + 6 days: Full term
- 41 weeks to 41 weeks + 6 days: Late term
- 42 weeks and beyond: Post-term

So, being 38 weeks does not mean you must already be in labour.

💕 “BUT I DON’T FEEL ANYTHING!”

That can still be normal.

Some women experience changes such as:

• Regular contractions that become stronger, longer, and closer together
• Lower abdominal or back discomfort
• Increased pelvic pressure
• Increased va**nal discharge
• Passage of the mucus plug, sometimes called the “show”
• Their waters breaking

However, not every woman experiences these signs before labour begins. Some women may have very few noticeable signs before established labour.

Braxton Hicks contractions can also occur at this stage. They are usually irregular and may settle with rest, hydration, or a change in activity. Established labour contractions generally become progressively stronger, longer, and more frequent.

👶🏽 CAN MY BABY BE BORN AT 38 WEEKS?

Yes. At 38 weeks, your baby is well developed and may arrive at any time. Although 38 weeks is classified as early term, many healthy babies are born at this stage.

When there is no medical reason for an earlier delivery, healthcare professionals generally avoid planned delivery before 39 weeks because important development continues during the final weeks of pregnancy.

However, if there is a medical reason why you or your baby needs to be delivered earlier, your maternity team may recommend delivery before 39 weeks.

📅 WHAT ABOUT MY DUE DATE?

Your estimated due date is an estimate, not a deadline.

Not being in labour at 38 weeks does not mean you have gone overdue. Many women go into labour during the 39th or 40th week.

If pregnancy continues beyond the due date, your maternity team will advise you about monitoring and the appropriate next steps. Around 41 weeks, discussions about induction and continued monitoring may become particularly important.

🚨 WHEN SHOULD YOU CONTACT YOUR MATERNITY TEAM?

At 38 weeks, don't simply wait at home if something concerning happens.

Seek maternity care promptly if:

🔴 Your baby's movements are reduced or noticeably different from the baby's usual pattern.

🔴 Your waters break or you think you are leaking fluid.

🔴 You have va**nal bleeding.

🔴 You develop regular painful contractions that are becoming stronger, longer, and closer together.

🔴 You develop severe or persistent abdominal pain.

🔴 You develop a severe headache, problems with your vision, sudden swelling of your face or hands, or other symptoms that may indicate a pregnancy complication.

❤️ THE MAIN MESSAGE

Being 38 weeks pregnant and not being in labour is not, by itself, a sign that something is wrong.

Every pregnancy is different, so try not to compare the timing of your labour with another woman's pregnancy.

Continue your antenatal care and follow the advice of your maternity team, who will monitor you and your baby and guide you based on your individual pregnancy.

And mama, don't try unproven methods to bring on labour simply because you have reached 38 weeks. If you are considering anything to start labour, discuss it with your maternity team first.

38 weeks and still waiting? How are you feeling, mama? 🤰🏽❤️

Save this post for later and share it with a pregnant woman who may need this clarification.

Sleeping Positions In Pregnancy: Recommended And Not Recommended

Recommended Positions ✅

1️⃣ Left side (best position) 🤰🏽
This is the safest and most recommended. It improves blööd flow to your baby, placenta, and your kidneys. It also helps reduce swelling in your legs and feet.

2️⃣ Right side 👍
Still safe and comfortable. If you can’t stay on your left all night, switching sides is perfectly fine.

3️⃣ With pillow support 🛌
Place a pillow between your legs, under your belly, and behind your back. This helps reduce strain and keeps you stable.

Not Recommended Positions ❌

1️⃣ Sleeping on your back 🚫
Especially after the second trimester. It can press on major blööd vessels and reduce blööd flow to your baby, causing dizziness or discomfort.

2️⃣ Sleeping on your stomach ❌
As your belly grows, this becomes uncomfortable and unsafe.

Final Tip 💡

Don’t panic if you wake up on your back—just gently turn to your side. Your body will naturally guide you to a safer position as your pregnancy progresses.

Pregnancy sleep can be uncomfortable, but the right position makes a big difference.

🚨👉First-time mom here, and honestly, I’m really worried 😩🤰🏽

I’m currently in my second trimester, and for the past two weeks, I’ve been having a discharge coming from my va**na that has a really unpleasant smell. The area has also been itching me so badly, and I’ve even noticed some rashes down there. 😭

I complained to my midwife, and she told me that discharge is normal during pregnancy. But honestly, this doesn’t feel normal to me because the itching and discomfort are so bad that I can hardly walk comfortably. 😩

As a first-time mom, I honestly don’t know what is normal anymore. Have any mamas experienced this during pregnancy? Was it normal pregnancy discharge, or did you later find out it was an infection?

Please mamas, share your experiences with me. ❤️ I really need your advice because I’m so uncomfortable and worried. 🙏🏽

Some Infectiöns during pregnancy can affect the baby in the womb. But don’t panic—many infecti0ns can be treated safely when found early.

Examples include:

1. Urinary tract infecti0n (UTI) — can increase the risk of early labor if untreated.

2. S€xually transmitted Infectiöns (STIs) — some can pass to the baby during pregnancy or delivery.

3. Malaria — can affect the plac€nta and baby’s growth.

4. Certain vag!nal Infectiöns — some may increase pregnancy complications.

Pregnant momma, don’t ignore unusual discharge, bad smell, fever, pa!nful urinati0n, itching, or lower abdominal pa!n. Get checked by a healthcare professional.

🤰🏽🚨 5 SIGNS YOU MAY NOT BE EATING ENOUGH DURING PREGNANCY! 🚨

Mama, pregnancy is NOT the time to ignore your body’s hunger signals. 🥹❤️ Your baby needs nutrients, and YOU need enough energy too!

Watch out for these signs 👇🏽

1️⃣ Constant hunger or weakness 😩
Feeling hungry again shortly after eating, especially with low energy, may mean your meals aren’t enough.

2️⃣ Dizziness or feeling faint 😵‍💫
Repeated dizziness can happen for several reasons, including inadequate food intake.

3️⃣ Unusual tiredness 🥱
Feeling extremely weak or exhausted may be a sign you need more nourishment—or could indicate anemia or another issue.

4️⃣ Poor or inadequate weight gain ⚖️
Your healthcare provider should monitor your weight and your baby’s growth throughout pregnancy.

5️⃣ Headaches and difficulty concentrating 🤕
Going too long without enough food can contribute to headaches, weakness and difficulty focusing.

💡 IMPORTANT: Not every one of these symptoms means you’re eating too little. Pregnancy symptoms can have many causes, including anemia, dehydration, low ŕ pressure or blood sugar problems.

❤️ Pregnant mama, don’t just eat MORE—eat NOURISHING meals: protein, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and plenty of fluids.

🚨 If you’re unable to keep food down, are repeatedly fainting, losing weight, or your baby’s movements decrease later in pregnancy, contact your healthcare provider promptly.

🚨🤰Understanding Some Common Pregnancy & Delivery Situations 🤰🏽👶🏽

Pregnancy and delivery can come with different experiences that may look scary but are often manageable with proper care.

• Feeling body pain or discomfort? Your body is adjusting and carrying extra weight. Rest, eat well, and don’t ignore persistent pain.

• Episiot0my (small cut during delivery): This is sometimes done to help baby come out safely. It’s not routine—only when necessary and done by a skilled provider.

• Mucus plug with a little blööd (“show”): This can be a sign your body is preparing for labor. If bleeding is heavy, seek medical care.

• Nuchal cord (cord around baby’s neck): It happens in some pregnancies and many babies are delivered safely with proper monitoring.

Always stay in touch with your doctor or midwife and report anything unusual. Knowledge helps you stay calm and prepared.

🚨Canc€r Can Start Quietly—Here Are Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore😳

Cancer does not always cause obvious symptoms in the beginning. Some changes can be easy to dismiss as stress, aging, or a minor health problem.

But if a sympt0ms is new, persistent, unexplained, or getting worse, it deserves attention. 👀👇

🔴 1. Unexplained weight loss
Losing weight without changing your diet or activity level can have many causes, including some c@ncers.

🔴 2. Unusual lumps or swelling
A new lump or swelling that persists should be checked by a healthcare professional.

🔴 3. Unexplained blééding
Blööd in the urine, stool, coughing up blööd, or unusual väginal bleeding should not be ignored.

🔴 4. Persistent changes in bowel or bladder habits
Ongoing changes such as persistent diarrhea, constipation, blood in stool, or changes in urination may need evaluation.

🔴 5. A persistent cough or hoarse voice
A cough or hoarseness that does not go away deserves med!cal attention, especially if it is worsening.

🔴 6. Ongoing fatigue
Extreme or unexplained tiredness that continues despite adequate rest can have many causes and should be evaluated if persistent.

🔴 7. Persistent pain with no clear cause
Pa!n that continues, keeps returning, or has no obvious explanation should be discussed with a healthcare professional.

🔴 8. Changes in a mole or skin lesion
Watch for changes in size, shape, color, or blèèding of a mole or other skin lesion.

⚠️ Important: These sympt0ms do not automatically mean cancer. Many can be caused by infecti0ns, medicati0ns, hormonal changes, or other conditions.

The important thing is not to ignore persistent or unusual changes. Early med!cal evaluati0n can help identify the cause and, when cancer is present, may allow earlier treatment.

❤️ Listen to your body. If something feels different and does not go away, get it checked.

📌 This post is for general health education and does not replace med!cal advice.
