Seeing is Living

Today was very hectic for us in the hospital despite the fact that it has been since yesterday almost none stop.
While I and my colleague were running up and down to make sure we saw all the patients, we had a case which urgently needs my attention as the only Igbo doctor in the sector… it was a 76 years old woman from Enugu… she couldn’t communicate very well in English because of that,she was added to the list of patients in queue for me.
That wasn’t an issue for me at all… but I was angry while seeing the woman because this woman was close to blindness…. In fact, I am not sure she has up to 5% of her vision on the right…the left eye is completely gone..
Guess what? This woman came to our hospital all by herself.
Very disheartening…when I helped her inside my consultation room, before asking her about her eyes, the first question I asked was mama, olee ebe umu gi no?
She had no word to say..
I asked her another question, mama Owu nani bi? She said no… that two of her child she lives with said he cannot bring him because he’s going to work…
I didn’t want to continue that conversation, hence I moved to what brought her .
I love attending to old patients because I grew up with my granny who died at 128yrs… but handling this woman’s case today got me all emotional.. you needed to see how I was holding her move around the hospital like my own mother because she cannot move by her self due to poor vision…
Please if your having your aging parents, help them age with in good health… if they must come to the hospital… come with them… how can you allow your 70+ to come to the hospital alone but you come with your girlfriend?

My ex that left me to marry a woman that is 5 years older than him reached out to me to consult me on his eye health.
I didn't even stress.
I just told him to get atropine eye drop and use it five times a day for one month.🤤🤤
He thinks I have forgotten and forgiven him.😵‍💫

Today, I officially lodged a complaint with our CMD.

Where I work we have doctors' and patients' restrooms but for the past two weeks,I have noticed someone has been messing up the WC seat so I went to report to our CMD

Between me and our CMD.

"Please ma, relocate the male doctors from the doctors' restroom."

She: why?
Me::Someone has declared the WC seat a shooting range. 🎯💦

The CMD started laughing and said,"Dr. Okere you're hilarious."

I said,"Ma, I'm completely serious."

She asked,"So where do you suggest they use?"

I replied,"The patients' restroom."
Yes,let the male doctors start using patients' restroom since they don't know how to position their stuff well while peeing

She smiled and said,"Approved." 😂😂
On my way back to my consulting room like someone that won an award, one of the male doctors saw me and said,Dr Okere can I borrow your pen and I replied with,CMD said you people should be using patients' restroom henceforth.
He said, who is you people?😂
I replied, you and Dr .....
He said why?
What happened to the one we usually use before ?
Or is the hospital planning to do renovation?
I told him they've sold the hospital 😂😂 not only renovation.
Anyways,if I catch him and his male gender there again,I will go and tell 😂
