Why Do You See Mucus During Your Period?

Please share this information

During your period, your body produces mucus naturally. Here's why you might see it:

1. Your cervix makes mucus every cycle: During your period, this mucus mixes with menstrual blood, making it look stringy or slippery.

2. Body cleaning itself
Mucus helps carry out old blood and tissue from your uterus.

3. Hormones affect it: Even during your period, hormones like estrogen and progesterone influence how much mucus your body makes.

Important:
Normal period mucus can be clear, white, or slightly yellow.

If it has a bad smell, itching, or unusual color, it could be an infection, and you should contact us for that!

7 IMPORTANT THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT DIABETES 🩺

Diabetes is more than “too much sugar in the blood.” It can affect your eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart and blood vessels, sometimes before you notice any symptoms.

Here are 7 things everyone should know 👇

1️⃣ YOU CAN HAVE DIABETES WITHOUT FEELING SICK
Type 2 diabetes can develop gradually, and some people have few or no obvious symptoms. Regular testing is important, especially if you have risk factors.

2️⃣ DIABETES IS NOT JUST ONE CONDITION
There are different types, including Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes. They have different causes and require different approaches to management.

3️⃣ PREDIABETES IS A WARNING SIGN
Prediabetes means blood glucose is higher than normal but not yet in the diabetes range. Identifying it early can provide an opportunity to prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes.

4️⃣ YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE OVERWEIGHT TO HAVE DIABETES
Body size isn’t the only factor. Genetics, age, physical activity and other factors can also influence your risk.

5️⃣ HIGH BLOOD SUGAR CAN CAUSE SILENT DAMAGE
Over time, uncontrolled diabetes can increase the risk of kidney disease, vision problems, nerve damage, heart disease, stroke and foot complications.

6️⃣ HAVING DIABETES DOESN’T MEAN YOU CAN NEVER EAT CARBS
You don’t necessarily have to completely eliminate foods like rice, yam, garri or bread. What matters is an appropriate eating pattern, portions, blood-glucose control and following your healthcare professional’s advice.

7️⃣ DIABETES CAN BE MANAGED
Proper treatment, healthy eating, physical activity, monitoring, prescribed medication and regular health checks can help reduce the risk of complications.

Don’t wait until you feel sick before checking your blood sugar.

👉 Speak with your doctor or qualified healthcare professional about your diabetes risk and appropriate testing.
