Here are 10 possible reasons why your mouth still smells:

🪥 1. You're Not Cleaning Your Tongue
The tongue traps bacteria, food particles and dead cells that can cause bad breath. Clean it daily with a tongue scraper or your toothbrush.

🦷 2. Gum Disease
Inflamed or infected gums can harbour bacteria that produce unpleasant-smelling compounds. Bleeding gums are a sign you shouldn't ignore.

💧 3. Dry Mouth
Saliva helps wash away bacteria. When your mouth is dry—whether from dehydration, medications or sleeping with your mouth open—bad breath is more likely.

🍬 4. Tooth Decay or Cavities
Food can get trapped in cavities, allowing bacteria to multiply and produce foul odours.

🥩 5. Certain Foods
Garlic, onions, spicy foods and some spices contain compounds that can linger on your breath long after you've eaten.

🚬 6. Smoking or To***co Use
Smoking dries out your mouth, stains your teeth and encourages the growth of odour-causing bacteria.

🫁 7. Tonsil Stones
These are small, whitish deposits that form in the tonsils from trapped food, bacteria and debris. They often cause persistent bad breath.

🤧 8. Sinus or Throat Infections
Postnasal drip and infections can leave mucus in the throat, creating an environment where bacteria thrive.

🔥 9. Acid Reflux (GERD)
Stomach acid flowing back into the oesophagus and mouth can leave an unpleasant taste and contribute to bad breath.

🩺 10. An Underlying Medical Condition
Persistent bad breath can sometimes be linked to conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, liver disease or kidney disease. If your bad breath continues despite good oral hygiene, it's worth seeing a dentist or healthcare provider.

💡 Bottom line: Bad breath isn't always caused by poor brushing. Good oral hygiene includes brushing twice daily, cleaning your tongue, flossing, staying hydrated and visiting your dentist regularly.

Here are 7 habits that can help protect your brain and blood vessels:

🩺 1. Keep your blood pressure under control.
High blood pressure is the biggest risk factor for stroke. Check it regularly, even if you feel fine.

🥗 2. Eat a heart-healthy diet.
Fill your plate with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Cut back on salt, sugary drinks, and highly processed foods.

🚶🏽‍♀️ 3. Stay physically active.
Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week. Walking, dancing, cycling, or swimming all count.

🚭 4. Don't smoke, and limit alcohol.
Smoking damages your blood vessels, while excessive alcohol can raise your blood pressure and increase your stroke risk.

⚖️ 5. Maintain a healthy weight.
Being overweight increases your chances of developing high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol—all major stroke risk factors.
🩸 6. Manage diabetes and cholesterol.

If you've been diagnosed with either condition, take your medications as prescribed and keep up with regular checkups.

😴 7. Get enough sleep and manage stress.
Poor sleep and chronic stress can contribute to high blood pressure and other conditions that increase stroke risk.

Your health is built on the small choices you make every day. Protect your brain by taking care of your body.

💬 Which of these habits are you already practicing? Let us know in the comments.

🌧️ 3 Things to Do Regularly This Rainy Season🌧️

👟 Prevent slips and falls – Wear footwear with good grip and walk carefully on wet surfaces to reduce your risk of fractures, sprains, and other injuries.

🤸 Stretch daily – Cold weather can make muscles and joints feel stiff. A few minutes of stretching each day improves flexibility and reduces pain.

🚶 Don't stay inactive – Spending long hours indoors can worsen back pain and joint stiffness. Keep your body moving with regular walks or simple home exercises.

Movement is one of the best medicines—rain or shine.
