Edo State University Teaching Hospital (EDSUTH), Auchi, has achieved another significant milestone with the successful accreditation of its Obstetrics and Gynaecology Residency Training Programme by the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN).

The accreditation followed a comprehensive assessment by the College to determine the hospital's capacity to provide quality postgraduate medical training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The successful outcome is a testament to the hospital's unwavering commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery, medical education, and research.

Reacting to the development, the Acting Chief Medical Director, Dr. Tijani I. A. Oseni, described the accreditation as another major stride in the hospital's quest to become a leading centre for specialist medical training in Nigeria.

He expressed profound appreciation to the Chairman, Hospital Board and Vice Chancellor of Edo State University, Iyamho, Prof. Victor Olawale Adetimirin, for his steadfast support and visionary leadership. He also commended the management team, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, members of the accreditation team, and the entire staff of the hospital for their dedication, hard work, and collective commitment that culminated in the successful accreditation.

Dr. Oseni noted that the accreditation will further strengthen specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, enhance the capacity of the hospital to produce highly skilled medical specialists, and ultimately improve the quality of maternal and reproductive healthcare services available to the public.

He reaffirmed the hospital's commitment to sustaining the standards of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria through continuous investment in manpower development, modern medical equipment, improved infrastructure, and quality patient care.

Edo State University Teaching Hospital (EDSUTH), Auchi, has successfully concluded a four-day Capacity Building Training/Workshop on "Driving Quality Research with Ethics" for members of its Research and Ethics Committee.

The workshop represents a significant milestone in the Hospital's pursuit of registration and recognition by the National Health Research Ethics Committee (NHREC) of Nigeria as an approved Health Research Ethics Committee (HREC). This accreditation is a mandatory prerequisite for the Hospital to ethically review, approve and monitor health research in accordance with national and international standards.

The successful conduct of the training reflects the Hospital's unwavering commitment to strengthening research capacity and promoting ethical, high-quality research. This strategic initiative is also in line with the Teaching Hospital's tripartite mandate of service delivery, training and research, further positioning EDSUTH as a centre of excellence in healthcare, medical education and scientific research.

Adhoc Staff Members of the Centre for Clinical Care and Clinical Research Nigeria (CCCRN) at Edo State University Teaching Hospital (EDSUTH), Auchi, today joined in celebrating the Ag. Chief Medical Director on the occasion of his one year anniversary in office.

During the visit, the staff members presented a gift to the Ag. CMD as a mark of appreciation and recognition for his impactful leadership, support, and commitment towards creating a conducive working environment for staff and partners within the hospital community.

The team commended the Ag. CMD for his dedication to the advancement of healthcare services and the visible progress recorded in the hospital within the past one year.
