ABAK COUNCIL SECRETARY SPEAKS ON URBAN DEVELOPMENT, DRAINAGE, AND FLOOD CONTROL ON PREMIUM 89.9 FM

The Secretary of Abak Local Government Council, Arch. Gift Umoh, was earlier today featured live on Premium 89.9 FM, where he discussed the critical issues of urban development, drainage systems, and flood control in Abak and across Akwa Ibom State. He emphasized the need for sustainable infrastructure planning and called for stronger collaboration between government and citizens in building safer and more resilient communities.

Speaking on ongoing efforts to tackle flooding, Arch. Umoh commended the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, for his administration's proactive flood control initiatives across the state. He also expressed profound appreciation to his principal, the Executive Chairman of Abak Local Government Area, Hon. Ime Charles, for her visionary leadership, unwavering support, and commitment to the development and well-being of the people of Abak.

During the radio engagement, Arch. Umoh also applauded Obong Prince Ikim, Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA), as well as the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Works, for their intensified drainage desilting operations and continuous inspection of flood-prone areas aimed at reducing environmental risks.

Arch. Umoh further stressed the importance of involving the Local Government Town Planning Authority and qualified architects in assessing building sites before construction begins. He noted that proper planning promotes orderly urban development, prevents environmental hazards, and urged residents to dispose of waste responsibly by keeping drainage channels free of refuse, emphasizing that environmental sanitation is a shared responsibility essential for effective flood control and sustainable development.

SPEAKER OTONG'S CONSTITUENCY BRIEFING AND MEGA EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME: A TRUE REFLECTION OF ACCOUNTABLE LEADERSHIP

By Comr. Imoh Udo, AbiaOkpo, Otoro Clan, Abak Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

"The true essence of leadership is not measured by words alone, but by the positive impact it makes in the lives of the people." The successful Constituency Briefing and Mega Empowerment Programme organised by the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elder Udeme Otong, stands as a remarkable demonstration of accountability, transparency, experience, and good governance. I sincerely congratulate the Speaker for once again fulfilling his promise to the people and encourage him to remain steadfast in his commitment to quality representation and grassroots development.

I also extend my heartfelt congratulations to all 308 beneficiaries of the second phase of the empowerment programme. May the items and support received serve as instruments of growth, self-reliance, and lasting prosperity. To those who were not fortunate enough to benefit this time, do not lose hope. By the grace of God, the third phase may present your own opportunity, as empowerment is a gradual process that reaches people at different times.

To the good people of Abak, this is another reminder that development flourishes where there is unity and collective support. Let us continue to stand behind leaders who have demonstrated capacity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people. Let us encourage one another, choose love over envy, and remain focused on the peace, unity, and progress of our communities. As we often say, "E Get Why."

Empowerment is indeed turn by turn, and every opportunity has its appointed time. Today may be someone else's season, but tomorrow could be yours or mine. Let us remain hopeful, hardworking, and supportive of one another as we continue to build a stronger, more united, and more prosperous Abak together.

Indeed, Abak is peaceful 👏
