🎸 September 23, 1957 — Buddy Holly & The Crickets hit #1!
On this day in 1957, “That’ll Be the Day” reached the top of the U.S. charts, becoming the only American #1 single credited to Buddy Holly and The Crickets.
The song went on to sell more than a million copies in the United States and became one of the defining records of early rock ’n’ roll.
And Buddy was only getting started: “Peggy Sue,” “Oh, Boy!,” “Maybe Baby” and “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore” would soon follow, helping turn his brief career into one of the most influential legacies in music history.
Three young musicians. One unforgettable sound.
And a song that still feels timeless almost 70 years later. ❤️

Yesterday would have marked the 90th birthday of the beautiful and talented Juliet Prowse, born on September 25, 1936.
The gifted dancer and actress brought charm, elegance and unforgettable energy to the stage and screen. Rock ’n’ roll fans especially remember her alongside Elvis Presley in the 1960 musical G.I. Blues.
Juliet passed away on September 14, 1996, just eleven days before her 60th birthday—but her radiant smile and timeless performances live on.
Never forgotten. 🌹

💋 Jayne Mansfield — When One Look Became Hollywood History
In April 1957, Sophia Loren was being welcomed to Hollywood at a glamorous dinner party. But when Jayne Mansfield arrived wearing an extraordinarily daring dress and sat beside her, the attention of every photographer in the room suddenly shifted.
The resulting photograph—Sophia cautiously glancing toward Jayne’s famous neckline—became one of the most iconic images of the 1950s.
It was the perfect Jayne Mansfield moment. She understood publicity better than almost anyone in Hollywood and knew exactly how to transform her blonde-bombshell image into headlines around the world.
More than an actress, Jayne became a symbol of the decade: platinum hair, curves, glamour, humour and just the right amount of scandal.
She didn’t simply enter a room… she made sure nobody looked anywhere else. ❤️

🎸 September 21, 1959 — “Sleep Walk” reaches No. 1!
On this day in 1959, brothers Santo & Johnny Farina climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 with one of the most beautiful and instantly recognizable instrumentals of the rock ’n’ roll era: “Sleep Walk.”
Built around Santo’s dreamy steel guitar and Johnny’s guitar accompaniment, the song had no lyrics at all — yet somehow managed to tell a whole story. Romantic, haunting and unmistakably late-’50s, it became a huge American hit and has remained a timeless instrumental classic ever since.
Across the Atlantic, the situation was very different: more than twenty cover versions reportedly appeared in the UK, and Santo & Johnny’s original recording reached only No. 22 there.
More than six decades later, those first few notes are still enough to transport you straight back to 1959. 🌙🎶
Do you still get chills when you hear “Sleep Walk”?

🎂✨ HAPPY 90th BIRTHDAY, BUDDY HOLLY! ✨🎸
On September 7, 1936, Charles Hardin Holley was born in Lubbock, Texas.
Today Buddy Holly would have turned 90 years old.
His career lasted an incredibly short time, yet his influence on Rock ’n’ Roll has lasted for generations. With his unmistakable voice, his Fender Stratocaster and those iconic black glasses, Buddy helped change the sound and the image of popular music forever.
Songs such as “That’ll Be the Day,” “Peggy Sue,” “Oh, Boy!,” “Rave On” and the beautiful “Words of Love” became part of Rock ’n’ Roll history — and inspired countless musicians who followed.
He was only 22 years old when we lost him on February 3, 1959.
Today, 90 years after his birth, his music still sounds wonderfully alive.
❤️ Happy Birthday, Buddy. Your music will never grow old.

🚗💗 September 5, 1955 — Elvis and the Pink Cadillac
On this day in 1955, Elvis Presley gave his beloved mother, Gladys, an unforgettable gift: his now-legendary pink Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60.
There was just one little problem… Gladys didn’t drive! ❤️ So Elvis continued to use the Cadillac himself, often traveling in it with members of his band throughout 1955 and 1956.
More than just a beautiful car, the Pink Cadillac became one of the most recognizable symbols of Elvis’ incredible rise from a young Memphis singer to the King of Rock ’n’ Roll.
The car remained in the Presley family and today can still be admired at Graceland — a wonderful piece of rock ’n’ roll history. 🎸👑
A Cadillac for Mama. A legend for all of us. 💗
