CT VHS Mode
1. Confirm the indication
* Check the clinical history and requested examination.
* Make sure VHS is actually required by the protocol/radiologist.
2. Patient positioning
* Center the patient accurately in the gantry.
* Remove external metallic objects where possible.
* Use appropriate immobilization for patients who may move.
3. Protocol selection
* Select the manufacturer-specific VHS protocol rather than manually changing parameters.
* Verify kVp, mA/mAs, pitch, rotation time, collimation and scan range.
4. Dose
* Check the protocol’s CTDIvol and DLP.
* Use automatic exposure control if available.
* Avoid unnecessary repeat acquisitions.
5. Contrast, if required
* Confirm IV access, contrast type/concentration, injection rate and timing.
* Ensure the bolus timing is appropriate for the examination.
6. Image quality
* Check coverage, motion, artifacts and reconstruction.
* Review axial images and required MPR/MIP/3D reconstructions before sending the study.
