SAFFRON - THE RED GOLD OF PERFUMERY Long before it became a culinary treasure, saffron travelled the ancient trade routes of Persia, Kashmir and the Middle East, prized as highly as precious metals. Harvested by hand from the delicate crimson stigmas of the Crocus sativus flower, it remains one of the world’s most precious botanicals-requiring tens of thousands of flowers to produce just a small amount.
In perfumery, saffron is not merely a note.
