MELASMA — when treating pigmentation requires a different strategy.

Melasma isn’t simply a pigment sitting on the surface of the skin. It’s a chronic, recurrent condition involving increased melanocyte activity — which is why aggressive treatments don’t always mean better results.

Sun exposure, visible light, heat, inflammation and hormonal factors can all contribute to flare-ups.

This is why we don’t believe in a “one treatment fits all” approach.

Depending on the skin, a plan may include targeted home care, daily SPF 50+, carefully selected superficial peels or microneedling with appropriate parameters.

Laser and IPL can have a place in selected cases, but they are not automatically the best choice for melasma and require careful consideration.

The goal isn’t simply to remove pigment.

The goal is to calm the skin, regulate pigmentation and reduce the risk of recurrence.
