Curved and ingrown nails are often only addressed once they begin to affect comfort or gait.
Ongoing mechanical pressure and footwear can continue to reinforce the curvature.
A controlled, even-tension approach can be used within routine care to guide nail plate growth and progressively address the underlying curvature over time, including in more established cases, rather than waiting until more invasive intervention is required.

People often don’t notice when foot discomfort starts to change how they move.
Steps shorten a bit. Weight shifts. Pressure is avoided without much thought. We see it quite often with curved or ingrown nails, sometimes well before anyone thinks to look closely at the feet or nails themselves.
Mobility is easier to keep than to get back. Once small, ongoing discomfort starts to affect day-to-day movement, it tends to be harder to reverse.
There are conservative, non-invasive ways to address this as part of ongoing care.
For many people, doing something earlier can help prevent movement becoming more limited later on.
Mobility, independence, and quality of life are closely connected, particularly as we get older.

Long days on your feet… by the end of the day, you just want your shoes off!
Why do curved or painful toenails become more common as we age?
Changes in circulation, nail growth, pressure from footwear, and reduced flexibility all play a role. Over time, this pressure can cause nails to curve inward and become uncomfortable.
There are gentler ways to support healthier nail growth without surgery or braces.
