This week, the Hohoe Municipal Health Directorate and the Management of the Volta Regional Hospital (VRH) paid a working and courtesy visit to the Hohoe NHIS Office. The visit served two important purposes: to officially introduce the new Director of the Volta Regional Hospital, Dr. Arko Akoto Ampaw and to pay a courtesy call on their “son,” Mr. Emmanuel Bansah, who has been elevated to lead the Hohoe NHIS Scheme.

During the engagement, the new VRH Director acknowledged the critical role being played by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in Ghana’s healthcare system. He expressed appreciation to the Government and the NHIA Chief Executive, Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, for the various innovations and recent tariff increments aimed at improving healthcare delivery. He noted that the improved tariffs have the potential to significantly address the issue of co-payments at health facilities, thereby reducing the financial burden on patients and providing much-needed relief to residents seeking healthcare.

In response, the Hohoe Scheme Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Bansah, expressed his appreciation to the VRH Management and the Municipal Health Directorate for the visit. He particularly commended the new Hospital Director for his commitment to working collaboratively with the NHIA to address co-payment and other challenges affecting quality healthcare delivery.

The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to strengthening collaboration, improving service delivery, protecting NHIS members, and ensuring that residents of Hohoe receive quality healthcare without undue financial barriers.
