Over two and a half thousand of them. We don’t take a single one for granted.

If you’ve ever taken a minute to write one, thank you. It means more to the team than you’d probably guess.

We told Rosie this was a photoshoot.

New R1SE kit available at both Kelham and Beook Place… should you want to obtain it the normal way!

What should we throw at her next?

Turns out the bit of you most likely to complain after padel isn't your knees. It's your elbow.

Which nobody expects, because the game feels like it's all footwork. But every volley and every slightly desperate return goes through the same arm, and on a court that small you're doing it again about ten seconds later.

Seven minutes sorts most of it. The trick is that a warm-up should look a bit like the game you're about to play, rather than a hamstring stretch in the car park while your mates get the balls out.

Whole routine's in the slides. There's a longer version on the blog if you want the why behind it, over in the blog section of the site.

We took R1SE Recovery on the Road to Fit AF at Club de Padel with the R1SE Body Scanner and the compression boots. Thanks Annie, it was a brilliant day!

Do you warm up before you play? Be honest.

You were told about the hot flushes. Nobody mentioned the joints.

Oestrogen does not just affect the obvious things. It strips collagen, and collagen is not just skin. It is tendon, ligament and fascia, the connective tissue holding every joint in position. Which is why the stiffness that arrives in your forties and fifties feels like it came from nowhere. It didn’t.

It takes muscle and bone too. And it makes the nervous system far harder to switch off, which is usually where the sleep goes.

Three different problems. No single class fixes all of them. So Gaynor built an afternoon that deals with each one in turn.

Reformer at 3pm to rebuild the core.
Yin at 4pm to release the fascia.
Sound bath at 5pm to settle the system.
Tea in between.

No experience needed on any of it. Not on the reformer, not in a sound bath. This is a relaxed afternoon, not a test.

Saturday 24 October, 3pm to 6pm at Brook Place.
17 places.
£65 until 30 September, then £75.

Comment MOTION and I’ll send you the link.

Where else have you been going?

It’s time for your next adventure.

New Sculpt, Bliss, Flex & more have arrived. There’s a side body theme running through all, which means your obliques are about to find out things about themselves.

The wildcards this time are crow, forearm crow and split crow. Rosie makes them look easy. They’re not, yet. But they’re all closer than they look, and the first time you get airborne is a very good day!

That’s rather the point. Sequences change so you get to be a beginner again at something, which is the bit that keeps this interesting after years on the mat.

Monday 7th. Both sites. Same sessions, new shapes.

Which one are you going for first?

A new thing! Cat manages the spa and is also a registered associate nutritionist, which felt like a waste not to use. So she's giving us a recipe a month.

First up, Yellow Split Pea Dhal.

Here's the case for it. We're meant to eat 30g of fibre a day. The UK average is 18, and only about 4 in 100 people manage the full amount. Pulses are the single easiest way to close that gap, and a pan of this does most of the work for you.

It also takes about ten minutes of actual effort. The split peas do the rest on their own for forty minutes while you get on with something else, and they don't need soaking first, which is the bit most people assume and get wrong.

Full recipe in the slides.

What should Cat cook next?

The reason you can't do crow probably isn't your arms.

To balance on your hands, your weight has to be over your hands. Not near them. Over them. Which means leaning forward past the point where it genuinely feels like you're about to land on your face.

Most people arrive at that exact edge, decide against it, and then try to hop their feet up instead. It never works, because the weight is still behind the hands and there's nothing to balance on.

The feet aren't something you lift. They get light on their own once you've gone far enough forward.

So the pose isn't really asking how strong you are. It's asking whether you'll commit to the bit that feels like falling.

Crow, forearm crow and split crow are the wildcards in the new sequences. Lading on Monday!

How far are you willing to lean?

Everyone talks about getting stronger. Almost nobody talks about feeling heavy.

Not heavy as in weight. Heavy as in compressed. The sitting, the training, the low hum of everything you’re carrying about - it stacks up, and it mostly lands in your spine.

Aerial is a suspension system. The hammock goes under you, so your body isn’t holding itself up any more, and inversions that are hard work on a mat become almost easy. Decompression without effort.
It builds grip, core and functional upper body strength, and people who come in with stiff, achy backs often leave saying it’s the best their spine has felt all week. It also pairs well with the mat classes - different demands, same body.

Never tried Aerail Yoga before? Make sure you book onto our next beginners course before attending our usual classes. No yoga experience needed for the course and nobody arrives able to do any of it. Our next beginners course is happening Sunday 13th September, 12pm - 3pm. See link in bio to book your place.

When did you last feel light?

Fifteen minutes ago, these faces looked very different.

Little weights that secretly weigh 50kg, tiny pulses that destroy your soul, and a squishy ball that Gwenny has somehow weaponised into an instrument of torture.

Then the gong, shavasana with a cold lavender towel, and the Friday post-Barre high hits.

Worth it? Absolutely.
