Wearing { Brown to Earth } from OPI▪️ Love a dark brown polish for fall…and when I have to give my nails the chop! 🪓

Pretty sure my friend Autumn Rose 🍂🌹✨ gifted this polish to me or at least, encouraged me to buy it. 😅 It was her birthday recently and I wish I could chat to her again about nail polish and autumn and Strictly. 🌹

Cherry mocha nails using OPI shades “You Don’t Know Jacques” and “Malaga Wine”

I absolutely love the cherry mocha trend! All you need to try this trend out for yourself is a brown nail polish and a burgundy polish - preferably one that has a slightly crelly feel and is more transparent (no one coat wonders here!). I usually do 2 coats of the brown and 1 coat of the burgundy.

Previously I used essie shades “No To-Do” and “Bordeaux” so I thought I’d give it a spin with OPI. “Malaga Wine” is really making these photos skew brighter than it looks IRL. I swear they’re darker in person!! These photos look more like it should be a raspberry mocha. 😅

There’s a lot of shades you could do this with and I’m excited to try some new combinations for next year!

Wearing { Endless Sun-ner } from OPI▪️ This chestnut brown is a great transitional shade and I love the name! Apparently we are due another heat wave in September so the name felt appropriate. 😅

Wearing { Speed of Life } from the essie Expressie collection▪️ Gotta have some peridot-themed nails for my birthday! This color was a surprise fave from a couple years ago and I also thought it was appropriate for a birthday since I cannot believe the “speed of life” sometimes!! Like what do you mean I’m 38 now?? I am not mature enough for this. 😅

{ Happy as Cannes Be } from essie ▪️ Love this off-white for summer! Wore this last week and I wanted something neutral for the sunflower fields. I also love the name of the polish - with all that’s going on, I’m as happy as “Cannes” be! 😜

My friend passed away last year on 1st July, but it wouldn’t be until a week later that I heard the news.

It’s crazy that I only had 4 years of friendship with her, as it felt like we had known each other much longer. We become close friends fast and it truly felt like we were often on the same wavelength - I felt like she really “got” me. We could text about anything, from the mundane to the silly to the deeply meaningful. Sometimes I still reach for my phone to text her about something random, only to realize she can’t answer.

I’ve had dreams where she’s still alive and we still text and we still go see theatre shows together. Dreams where she says “Surprise! Bet I had you fooled!” But I always wake up to find that she is well and truly gone.

This is a nail account, but I hope you’ll forgive me going slightly off topic. But we did meet through nail polish and she visited me at my house to help me organize my polish collection into my new ALEX drawers (which she helpfully picked up from her local IKEA). We also met in London a few times to go to plays and things, but not enough. Never enough.

She was someone special and I hope she knew how special she was to me.
