We’re giving away tickets to The Other Art Fair, and they come in pairs, so start thinking about who you’re bringing!

It’s on at the Truman Brewery from 8 to 11 October. Independent artists sell their work to you directly, with no gallery in the middle. Over 10,000 artists have shown with them over the years, and on top of the art there are installations, performances, DJs and a bar.

To enter, follow , then tag the person you’d bring in the comments. You can tag as many times as you like, and winners are drawn at random. Entries close at 6pm on Sunday 4 October, so don’t leave it too late!

October is the one of the busiest month London’s galleries all year, with many big openings in the space of three weeks.

The National Gallery has forty Renoirs from the 3rd, including Bal au Moulin de la Galette, which has never been shown in this country before. Es Devlin’s first European retrospective lands at the Design Museum the day before that, and then there’s the Riviera at the RA, Salman Toor at the Courtauld, Tim Walker at the NPG, and all 46 Hokusai prints down at Dulwich.

One thing worth knowing is that the National Gallery runs Pay What You Wish on Friday evenings from 23 October, minimum £1. Save this so you don’t lose it!

Join MACS, Exhibits and Curiosity Club at London Museum Docklands on SUNDAY 18 OCTOBER! ⚓️⛵️

​First we’ll head to “By Appointment Only: Romani Art, Culture & Heritage” - a free display showcasing the work of British Romani artists who share their identity and experiences through visual activism.

​The exhibition centres around three key works by artists Corrina Eastwood (co-curator of the display), Delaine Le Bas and Dan Turner. Inspired by the trade and industry of London’s Docklands, the artworks honour the livelihoods, creativity and craft of Romani communities and their contribution to British society.

​Then we’ll look around the rest of the museum, which is home to nine galleries, each one exploring a different theme of London’s river, port and people. There’s even a recreation of the Victorian London docklands that you can walk through, called Sailortown!

You can join us from 1:45 at the London Museum Docklands cafe - look out for the MACS sign on the café table!

There’s a room on the second floor of the Natural History Museum that the public hasn’t set foot in since 1943. It’s just reopened as Nature and Us, and it’s free.

50 objects, from a 400,000-year-old handaxe to a Star Wars toy covered in sea creatures. The original herbarium cabinets are still standing.

Tate Britain’s Whistler retrospective closes on Sunday, and it’s the first big one in Europe for 30 years - 150 works, including pieces that have barely been seen before.
He painted the Thames after dark, fell out with half of Victorian London and won a libel case for a farthing, so we think it’s worth the trip.

If you’re 16–25, Tate Collective gets you in for £5!

Tate Collective just hit 200k young people, and to celebrate, they’re handing one artist aged 16–25 a 13-metre wall at Tate Modern. For the first time ever, a young artist’s mural will hang in the building for a whole year.

The theme? Community, and how coming together can build a fairer future. You don’t need a finished design to enter, just a sketch and a big idea. £2,000 fee, all production covered.

Deadlines creep up fast. Submissions close 5pm on 19 October!

‘With Limitations’ at The Aram Gallery is an exploration of the constraints and resourcefulness shaping contemporary design practice, presented as an apartment furnished entirely by emerging designers from across the UK. Each object responds to a different limitation, whether space, budget, time, or access to materials and equipment, offering an honest insight into the conditions that shape the work of independent practitioners.

Supporting emerging talent lies at the heart of it. The exhibition is free to participate in, removing the financial barriers that keep so many early-career designers out of the room
