Taming overlayered, thick hair (without the complicated styling routine) 💇‍♀️

In today’s tutorial, Salma came in struggling with hair that’s thick, naturally dry, and prone to frizz, made a little trickier by some top layers that were cut a bit too short.

She wanted a polished, smooth finish, and since she’s going to need to wait for those top layers out to catch up with the rest of her hair, we needed a strategy. Most importantly? It had to be a style she could actually recreate at home!

Salma isn’t confident using a traditional round brush and hair dryer together (which is something I hear often ), so we kept the technique simple:

Prep & Hydrate: We used just ONE product, One United Leave-In Conditioner—to instantly add moisture, heat protection, and smooth down frizz without weighing her thick hair down.

Wrap Dry: Using a simple vent brush, we wrap-dried the hair close to the head to quickly take down volume and flatten out those unruly top layers.

Style Effortlessly: We switched to the Airstyle Pro using the flat brush and round attachments. It gives you the control of a blow-dryer and brush in one simple tool—perfect if you struggle with classic blow-dry technique!

The result? A far sleeker, high-shine finish that controls frizz and seamlessly blends those growing-out layers. Proof that you don’t need a 10-step routine or expert brush skills to get a salon-polished look every single day.

Getting your dream hair comes down to one thing: working with a colourist who can truly translate your vision into reality.

In this video, colour expert works with Sarah at Josh Wood London to craft the ultimate lived-in, low-maintenance look.

The goal? Finding that sweet spot right in the middle, neither too warm and brassy, nor too dull and ashy. Just seamless, effortless colour that grows out beautifully.

Is your hair behaving completely differently, but you’re still trying to style it the way you used to?

In this video, Helen opens up about how her once-silky-smooth hair shifted to a wavy, slightly coarser texture with menopause.

It’s so easy to stay in denial when our hair changes over time. But when we get stuck fighting our natural texture and forcing old routines, we miss out on making the most of what our hair can do now. The key isn’t fighting the change—it’s adapting to it.

If this is something that has affected you, do like and follow for the full tutorial next week! We’ll be embracing Helen’s new natural waves to create an easy, effortless style that takes very little time and hardly any tools at all.

Slower mornings, sea air, good coffee (always!)… exactly the change of pace I needed. More to come….

Somebody recently asked me how to press a wave into shorter hair, and I immediately thought of Claire’s ‘cool girl’ style that we created earlier this year.

Claire wanted something low maintenance that she wasn’t forever running to the hair salon to have to keep up, both in colour and in shape.

The beauty of the style we decided upon will mean she can wash and go - or elevate her look using a tong for special occasions.

Let me know your thoughts on Claire’s transformation below 👇 Would you consider going shorter? And what kind of styles do you tend to err towards when going out?

I always receive so many questions about the ‘Trinny wave’ technique. Last week, we focused on using it on curly hair, in order to create structured, bouncy and quite tight curls.

On longer hair, the technique is different: we use a larger round brush and less ‘twists’ to achieve soft, opened out waves.

It’s important to note that if your hair is naturally very straight, drops curls fast or isn’t quite textured enough - you may require extra heat to really press a wave into the hair. In this case, you would follow the same method, but replace the round brush and dryer with a tong. I’ll go into more detail on this very shortly.

If you’ve mastered the Trinny wave technique, how quickly were you able to pick it up? And what have you found most helpful in achieving your look?

I’d love to hear from you!

Surely I am not the only one here who struggles with this?

Calling all curly girls who have mastered the Trinny Wave technique (or would like to)

You haven’t tried this yet!

In this tutorial; we elevate the ‘twist’ hair method to recreate lynne’s beautiful curls with polish, structure and bounce - ‘pull, slacken, twist’

It’s the same concept, it just takes a little more twisting and a smaller brush to create lynne’s gorgeous defined curls.

You can try this technique on any hair type prone to curling or waving - and it will take a little practise, but once you have it in your arms, wrists and hands - you’ll be able to repeat it again and again throughout your hair.

If you do go ahead and try this - let me know how you get on. Your feedback is always valuable to me…

Bobs and short styles having been making a big comeback this year…for Liezel the question was, whether to take her hair up, or grow it out…

What happens when you see your hair as one thing and your colourist sees something totally different?

In this video we're at in London with colour expert , who sat down with Sarah, really listened, worked from a couple of reference photos, and built her a colour designed to be genuinely low maintenance, beautiful, and to keep evolving in the sun over the summer months.

Sarah loves her long hair, so we didn't want to do anything drastic on the cut. A quick tidy up and then it was time to look at how she'd been styling it at home.

Sarah had a Dyson at home she'd basically given up on — couldn't get the hang of it, so it was gathering dust in a drawer. I've been playing around with the Airstyler Pro for a few weeks now and I have genuinely fallen in love with it. So much so, that i’m pleased to announce that I have since partnered with dreame-tech (the link to the product is in my BIO at the top of the page, for any of you who are interested!)

A full disclaimer: I only ever want to recommend products that I truly love, enjoy, and can wholeheartedly stand behind, because your trust is the most important thing to me. That's why transparency is key whenever I work with a brand. I have chosen to partner with Dreame in this case because I believe strongly in the benefits of this styler and what it can do for your hair.
It's the most impressive styler I've had my hands on since the Dyson Airwrap and it costs a fraction of the price.

The heat sits at exactly the right temperature so it isn't damaging the hair, the attachments work beautifully on anything fine to medium, and in this video I hope I am able to demonstrate how easily you are able to transform your day to day look using the device. Further tutorials are also coming up for different hair types.

🎁 and... I have an air styler giveaway coming very soon — do stay tuned for more information!
