I’m heading back to London this weekend and I can’t wait! ✨
Professional Beauty is such a great opportunity to catch up with industry friends, make new connections and spend time with people who are just as passionate about our industry as I am.
I’m looking forward to seeing what’s new, catching up with brands, listening to some great talks, sharing ideas and coming away feeling inspired.
Can’t wait to see you there! ✨

Yesterday saw me travel to London for an Expert Collaboration Day with two lovely, already experienced practitioners.
It was such a pleasure to spend the day with them, revisiting techniques, looking at the latest approaches, discussing product and probe choices, and refining techniques for the treatment of benign skin lesions.
What I really loved was how passionate they both were about continuing to develop their skills and knowledge. They care so much about recognising what they’re treating, working safely and achieving the best possible outcome for their clients.
There was lots of discussion, plenty of questions and a real enthusiasm to take everything in. I love working with practitioners who are already experienced but want to keep learning, refining and challenging their own practice.
Thank you ladies for having me. It was lovely to spend the day with you both.

Monday took me to a beautiful village near Bournemouth, where I had the absolute pleasure of spending the day with Tania, a wonderful practitioner who was keen to build her knowledge, refine her techniques and gain even more confidence in advanced skin blemish removal.
We covered so much during our day together, and what I’m sharing here is really just a very small snippet of what we worked through!
Just to name a few…
We looked at dermoscopy and importantly, what we are actually looking for when we examine a lesion. We discussed symmetry, what normality can look like, the red flags we need to recognise and when something needs to be referred rather than treated.
We looked at how to differentiate between different types of lesions, particularly when they can present very similarly, such as distinguishing a mole from a skin tag when they appear alike, and recognising the difference between a solar lentigo and a freckle.
We then moved on to treatment techniques, including thread vein removal. We looked at probe selection, the angle of insertion, intensity, technique and aftercare, all with the aim of achieving an effective treatment while keeping the client’s comfort and healing at the forefront.
We also treated a complex lesion which was a collision of a seborrhoeic keratosis and a filiform lesion. This gave us the opportunity to explore why these lesions can behave so differently during treatment, including why filiform lesions can bleed whereas a seborrhoeic keratosis generally does not.
And this really is just a tiny glimpse of what we covered in one day!
Advanced skin blemish removal is incredibly involved. There is so much more to it than simply knowing how to use your epilator.
Your understanding of skin, lesions, dermoscopy, anatomy, treatment techniques, tissue response, healing and when not to treat all needs to come together.
Tania has such a lovely, gentle touch and I know her clients are in very safe, caring hands. It was a real privilege to meet some of her clients, work alongside her and help her develop her confidence and knowledge in this specialist area.
Thank you so much for having me, Tania! It was an absolute pleasure.

When treating a cherry angioma, it’s all about controlling the current and watching the tissue response. I don’t want to tap too quickly, because I need to allow enough time for the current to do its job and coagulate the vascular tissue. But equally, I don’t want to hold it for too long, as excessive heat can cause unnecessary tissue damage.
For me, I’m looking for the angioma to become noticeably flatter and change from that bright red colour to a greyish appearance. That tells me I’ve achieved a good level of coagulation without unnecessarily over-treating the area. The treated tissue can then form a small, controlled scab which naturally separates as the skin heals. In many cases, once healed, there is little or no visible trace of the original cherry angioma!
