I've recently been asked by someone why I wouldn't let my so called husband Yankuba Sanneh send money to his kids. From the day we got married money was given to him every week bearing in mind I worked two jobs trying to keep my own home and send money to him. Only to find out later he already had a wife and two more kids I didn't know about. People are still questioning me about the way he was treated when he arrived here in UK. He had everything so did his family back home. I'm not explaining my self to anyone anymore. His story is going to make me out to be some sort of controlling woman but I can assure you he was well looked after. He married me for a VISA and when he got it he left me. I'm so glad he's out of my life. I feel I've healed from this traumatic experience and living my best life. No more drama no more narcissistic abuse. IM FREE. 😁

It's almost a year now since he walked out and left me. I've had enough time to think about what he's done. So obviously he married me for the visa. How can anyone live with them selves knowing what they did to someone that suffered and went without , worked two jobs and paid out more than £20,000 to bring him from one of the poorest countries to the UK. He obviously didn't care about me one little bit . When the time was right for him he just went. The trauma of it all has caused my health to deteriorate but that's ok as now I have a peaceful home no drama no lies and I'm getting on with my life knowing I can hold my head up high . Unlike him he will always be looking over his shoulder.

Took this page down for few days but I've had a lot of messages to keep sharing. So here I am 😊

So today my son was reported to the police by Jacob for putting up a pic of him. So all day I've had Lucy Taylor who works with him saying how I abused him , controlled him , wouldn't let him have any of his money , I spent all his money on myself and my animals. Anyone that knows me knows what I went through to bring him to the UK. This is the last time I'm discussing my life with Jacob on here as I don't need to. I can hold my head up high and so can my family as you all know how much we have helped his ungrateful family. We've had the police to the house again today all because of his lies . I've made this page to raise awareness of these men who take advantage of vulnerable women . MY TRUTH MATTERS

This is where Jacob lived . I married and brought him to the UK for him to have a better life and provide for his family. Unfortunately he had a plan and I wasn't in it. He lived with me for six years until he received his settlement visa. When he left me he told everyone I wouldn't let him send money to his kids. He left me coz he didn't need me anymore

MY STORY PLEASE READ
By Janet Ali .

In 2016, I met a man Yankuba Sanneh (known as Jacob in UK while on holiday in THE GAMBIA. I had been widowed since 1998 brought up three children and a baby who was just 12 days old when my husband passed away. Yankuba knew what id been through I explained how hard it was bringing up my children on my own. The time I spent in Gambia with Yankuba we saw each other every day he seemed very genuine.

When I returned home to Wales, we spoke every single day. I was
persuaded that we should marry and start a life together in the UK. The
visa process was long, stressful and expensive. The first application
was rejected. I paid again. Eventually, he was granted a temporary visa.

While he was still in his country The Gambia I sent money every week. I was told by him he had three children who were looked after by his family. He was working at the time in a hotel called Palma Rima and was bringing home £20 a month.
My family and I even set up a fundraiser to install running
water and electricity at his home. We sent shipments of clothes,
medicine, school supplies, phones & anything we thought would help.

Looking back, the red flags were there.

The money requests increased. There was little gratitude. There was
always another emergency, another reason more was needed.

In 2019, he moved in with me after receiving his temporary visa. I
helped him get a job through a friend. At first, things seemed good. We
began sending £300 a month to his family. That amount slowly increased to £500
a month. I started questioning where it was all going.

That is when his behaviour began to change.

He stopped calling his children in front of me and would only video call
when I wasn't around. If I questioned anything, I was told I was
paranoid. He began isolating me in subtle ways and discouraging my
grandchildren from staying over, saying he wanted peace and quiet. I
made excuses to my family because I was embarrassed.

He slowly created division between me and my loved ones.

My son Matthew noticed he would make phone calls immediately after leaving the
house with him. When asked, he was told it was just "his sister".

We had agreed from the beginning that our different beliefs would not be
an issue. He celebrated Christmas and birthdays with us for years. Then
suddenly, once his settlement visa application was paid for another
£5,000 - he announced he would no longer celebrate anything.

He began sleeping on the sofa instead of in our bed.

Then the arguments escalated.

The first time he put his hands on me was during an argument about
money. He grabbed my face and pushed me onto the settee. I covered the
bruise and lied to my family. I didn't want my sons reacting and getting
into trouble.

There were further incidents of physical aggression.

When I finally broke down and told my family about his behaviour (though
not the violence at that time), we tried to cancel the visa application.
I contacted the Home Office and explained the financial control and
concerns. I was told it was too late the visa had already been
granted.

Around this time, he updated his social media with another woman's photo. When confronted, he admitted he was already married to a Gambian woman the mother of his kids and told me his future was with her and his five kids two more than I knew about. I reported him to the police.

He was later arrested and both of his phones were seized and his passport. After months on bail,
I was told there was not enough evidence to proceed.

He left me having drained my savings I feel embarrassed, disappointed, and let down by the system
but most of all I feel determined to speak up.

I have since reported everything to the police, immigration and the Home
Office. My MP has also written on my behalf and investigations are
ongoing.

I am sharing this not for sympathy but for awareness.

If someone:

- Pushes for quick marriage
- Pressures you financially
- Gradually isolates you from family
- Makes you question your own judgement
- Becomes secretive with phones
- Changes personality once legal status is secured
- Uses guilt, religion or children as leverage

Please step back. Speak to someone you trust. Seek legal advice before
sponsoring anyone.

Not every relationship is like this. But manipulation and exploitation
do happen particularly where there is vulnerability, grief, or a
significant age gap.

I stayed silent because I was ashamed.

I am not ashamed anymore.

If this helps one woman recognise the red flags and get out sooner than
I did, then telling my story is worth it.

Please share.
