There are lots happening before the season changes and Autumn, Winter and Christmas is upon us. In the makers world, we think about Christmas in July. Nuts.

To ease you in gently for candle season, I have made candles from our Elements Water collection. The container is cast from Jesmonite AC730, a dense material that feels like stone, the colour shown is called Portland Stone - the same as my popular soap dish with a tray from the water collection.

This one's called Mere, after the old word for a still pond. Lavender and lemon on top, clary sage and neroli underneath. It's the calmest one in the collection. Refills are available too.

I have five candles, one for each element which means you can experiment with your favourite scents according to mood, preference or season :)

My favourite days!

I've been looking after the young plum trees planted by Brighton Permaculture Trust in our local park, and learning the ropes of caring for the established apple and pear trees alongside them.

If you fancy getting your hands dirty too, community orchards like this are always looking for more helping hands, no experience needed, just a willingness to learn as you go.

There's an Orchard Day in the works - there'll be an apple pressing machine in action, plus loads to learn about tree care and what it takes to keep a community orchard thriving. Watch this space for dates
