THE HAIRSTYLING INDUSTRY NEEDS PROFESSIONALS, NOT BEAUTIFULLY PACKAGED ILLUSIONS!
A bit long reading ..but worth...please stay until end and read. It is the reality of our industry, sadly.
We have reached a point where it seems easier to become a trainer than to become a truly qualified hairstylist.
Today, after a few courses, a few successful photos, and a convincing presence on social media, some people transform overnight into “educators,” “mentors,” and “academicians” of the beauty industry, even worse, jury and create events for professionals that promise trophys and recognitions. Ofcourse, all in exchange of large amount of money sometimes... you don't win a trophy because you trully deserve - you buy it, and you also pay someone to call your name on the stage to hand it to you in a fake spectacle...😟 what is going on with the industry?
And I wonder: when did image become more important than competence?
Unfortunately, I have seen people teaching techniques without mastering professional terminology, using concepts they cannot explain, and struggling even to communicate correctly the information they claim to be teaching, people tgat sell online vourses but the entire filming has no quapity or movements around so yiu cannot see and understand- and guess what? They excuse themselve for "learning and improving" .... why are you teaching when yiu still learning? I don't want to learn from a learner..... nobody wants!
Too much drama and excuses, packed in "vulnerability", "courage", "authenticity"...that is just mistaken and manipupate the people on a lower level than them........ and that is sad and alarmimg at the same time.
I am not talking about accents, occasional mistakes, or people who are learning and evolving. I am talking about the responsibility of educating other professionals when you yourself do not master what you are teaching.
But there is another problem, perhaps an even more serious one.
The illusion of easy money!
People care less about what a professional really do after finishid tgeir course, they promise support all the time- but ehen needed they hide behind several reason and you have to understand them..no othrr choice... you arr left alone on your money, time and dissapointment. And THAT IS SOO WRONG.
Our profession is sometimes presented as a world of luxury, spectacular outfits, perfect photographs, dramatic lashes, and extremely long nails.
As if the life of a hairstylist meant looking flawless in the mirror, working a few hours, and earning impressive amounts of money.
There is nothing wrong with being elegant, feminine, or taking care of your appearance. But image is not a professional qualification, and popularity is not proof of competence.
Behind this profession lies a reality that is rarely discussed:
*Years of practice, study, and continuous improvement.
*Chemistry, hair-fiber anatomy, scalp health, and product knowledge.
*Responsibility, hygiene, safety, and ongoing education.
*Long hours spent standing, physical exhaustion, and mental fatigue.
*Managing expectations, mistakes, emotions, and relationships with clients.
*Investments, expenses, taxes, and financial risks.
And, above all, responsibility for every person who entrusts their hair and their confidence to our hands.
After approximately 20 years in this industry, I am still learning. I am still asking questions. I am still investing in my education. And I do not believe that experience makes me all-knowing.
That is precisely why I am concerned by how easily some people promise to turn beginners into specialists or even trainers in an incredibly short time. Yes, i am agree with refresh courses- but NOT on a professional that is a beginners. Adequate to the level that profesional is.
A certificate does not replace experience. A large number of followers does not guarantee knowledge. And the ability to sell a course does not automatically mean the ability to teach.
I do not want to discourage people who want to enter this industry. On the contrary!
We need new generations who are talented, curious, and passionate.
But we also need responsible educators, professional standards, and honesty in what we promise. Because i see everyone is recomending a trainer/educator/courses and everything else based on their like or dislike that person and not trully based on the real knowledge and expertise that person has. And it's sad 😟
For those who dream of a career in hairstyling: choose carefully who you learn from. Check their practical experience, qualifications, course curriculum, and what you will actually be able to do after graduation.
And for those who choose to train future professionals, I have a question:
Are you preparing people for a profession, or are you selling a beautifully packaged dream?
This is not an attack on any individual. It is a wake-up call for an industry I respect and in which I have invested a large part of my life.
Hairstyling is a profession. Education is a responsibility. And professional ethics should not be optional.
I am curious to hear what my fellow professionals, educators, and those preparing to enter this industry think.
Educators, what challengies you face?
And you The Stylist?
Are we raising standards, or do we continue applauding appearances?
Please keep the conversation professional, respectful and don't name or shame anyone. We all play a part at the end...

I HEAR YOU, I LISTEN TO YOU AND NOW I BRING THE SOLUTION AT Mimi's Hairstyle 🤩
Many of you know me through hair, beauty and wellbeing, and over the years my work has taught me something very important: what we see on the outside can sometimes encourage us to pay more attention to how we are looking after ourselves on the inside.and the hair and skin is the first that tells when something is not right. But we don't have to wait until then.
That’s one of the reasons I’ve decided to restart my partnership with Isagenix UK.
I was actually an Isagenix Brand Partner around two years ago, but at that time I didn’t give myself the opportunity to properly understand the products or incorporate them into my lifestyle. This time, I’m coming back with a very different purpose.
Who is Isagenix?
Isagenix is a health and wellness company offering nutritional products designed to complement a balanced lifestyle — including nutrition, protein, supplements, hydration and beauty-focused products such as Collagen Elixir.
In the salon, I increasingly see and hear women telling me:
“My hair is becoming thinner.”
“My hair doesn’t feel like it used to.”
“My nails keep breaking.”
“My skin has lost some of its firmness.”
“I feel like my body is changing.”
And while a supplement is not a treatment or cure for hair loss, a skin medical condition, these conversations remind me that beauty isn't only about what shampoo, colour or treatment we put on our hair or skin.
Our bodies also need adequate nutrition, protein, vitamins, minerals, hydration, sleep and everyday care.
I believe we shouldn't wait until we feel completely depleted before we start paying attention to ourselves. Supporting our wellbeing is something we can do consistently, through the small choices we make every day.
That is what I want this new partnership to represent.
Not a miracle solution.
Not unrealistic promises.
But another way for me to talk openly with my clients and followers about beauty, nutrition, self-care and wellbeing from within.
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about the Isagenix products I’m discovering, what they contain, how they are intended to be used, and my own experience with them.

And, as always, if you're experiencing significant or unexplained/ sudden hair loss or other sudden changes in your body, please speak with your GP or an appropriate healthcare professional rather than relying on supplements alone.
