The Eclipse & Tai Chi
Last week, Ibiza experienced a total solar eclipse. 🌑☀️
It got me thinking about Yin and Yang — and about something I was taught in Tai Chi: that Single Whip can be understood as a moment of pause within the continuous movement of the form.
The form never really stops. But there are moments where movement gathers into stillness before expressing itself again.
For me, there’s something of the eclipse in that.
So next time you practise your form, pay particular attention to Single Whip.
Can you find that tiny moment of stillness within the movement?
And does it feel different now that you’ve seen an eclipse? 🌑

More than two thousand years ago, the authors of the Nei Ye understood something that still underpins Tai Chi today: power is not something we manufacture through force. It emerges when the right conditions are in place—when the body is aligned, the breath settled, the mind is quiet and the qi full.
Real power is quiet.

Over three days, we explore a deceptively simple two-part circling movement that unlocks the internal dynamics behind Tai Chi, Qigong and Bagua.
We’re in the season of the Wood Element — the time of the Liver, the Sinews and the rising energy of Spring. A perfect moment to release long-held tension, restore elasticity and reconnect with a deeper sense of vitality and flow.

My Dantian Activated During Meditation
This happened on a 10-day silent meditation retreat.
No Tai Chi. No Qi Gong. No intention to work with energy.
And yet the dantian began to activate in a way that completely changed how movement was arising in the body.
It felt like something deeper was orchestrating my mobility.
